Pho Brisket Banh Mi from District 3 Viet Cafe on College St.
The banh mi features beef brisket, pickled red onion, fried shallots, and hoisin sauce. There’s a bit of spiciness mixed in along with the sandwich and a bowl of rich pho soup on the side.
The sandwich is sweet and spicy, warmly toasted as well. The fried shallots provide a bit of a crunch for texture. After dipping it in the soup, the bread soaks it up and introduces a rich umami flavour along with what the sandwich already offers. This is probably the best banh mi I have ever tried.
Price: $10.9 CAD + tax

Is that a regular French baguette?

Looks pretty good. Always walk by this place but never walked in. Thanks for the post.

Is the soup kind of fish sauce? It’s a weird combination for banh mi if you asked me. Will give it a try next time I cross by

looks like a Vietnamese take on a french dip sandwich

No disrespect to the restaurant as I’m sure it was delicious, but this isn’t a banh mi. It’s a Vietnamese french dip.
