Love Amboy’s burgers. The picante’s one of my favorites as their pickled serranos are tasty and add a little heat with a cut of vinegar. So damn good and one of few places nowadays where you can get a great meal for around $15.

Best burger at this price point in LA. Edges above the Window. The American cheese is so good – it just melts so well and becomes a sauce – and the patty is so savory and umami. And the crinkle cut fries I had when I was last here were so crispy and tender.

I went to Amboy for the first time last fall, and I thought their Classic Double was pretty good. However, I’ve been trying out a lot of these “best of the best” or “quality” burgers around LA, and I can’t really say that I really feel the need to go back to any of them. For example, same goes for Win-Dow in Silver Lake. Maybe my taste buds are just somewhat flawed and I can’t taste the greatness of these burgers compared to In-N-Out or other casual joints to justify the price? I don’t know.
