I’m really excited to see what was chosen even if I probably won’t eat there
Is there any way to watch live?
It always throws me off that the Michelin Man is legit associated with tbis

Was looking for a way to watch this, cheers!
Just got back from Italy 45 minutes ago… we ate at two starred restaurants in Tuscany, as well as a dozen+ great casual spots. Really curious to see this reveal with that comparison in mind.
Interested to see what restaurants make it, but also what restaurants, if any, people don’t think deserve it.
Air Canada and service do not belong in the same sentence
Edulis up first with the “Service Award” for having great service lol
Did they say 70 or so restaurants ??
Best Sommelier to Christopher Sealy @ Alo
Alo with 1 star. Will be interested to see what restaurants rank above it.
The only two star is Sushi Masaki Saito!
Well that was painful to watch. Patrick Kriss not happy!
Anybody have the full list?
Edit: It’s in the app but here’s the list (f the app)
Everything is one star other than Saito
Sushi Masaki Saito (2 star)
Don Alphonso
Alo
Edulis
Quetzal
Enigma
Alobar
Aburi Hana
Osteria Giulia
Yukashi
Kaiseki yu zen Hashimoto
Shoushin
Foxley should have gotten a Bib and I’m sure the team at Actinolite are not happy for not even getting a nod.
I’m also sure John Horne is probably throwing cooks off of the roof of the TD tower, tonight. That or crying in the walk-in.
Did Giuletta get anything?
[Here’s the final * list.](https://twitter.com/kwitmeyer/status/1569844637447094272)
The whole exercise seems pointless; just hope it delivers the expected ROI.
what a terribly awkward show
I’m happy for edulis, alma, quetzel, bar Raval, guiletta…but knew there would be nothing fussy enough for that list here. Only one 2 star? Not sure this is the big reveal we hoped.
Michelin loves really formal creative fine dining, that’s never been Torontos fine point. Killer examples of 500 different ethic cuisines you can get for next to nothing? That’s more us.
Edit: and having eaten at 1,2 and 3 star restaurants around the globe I’m not sure it’s as cool anymore as it claims to be. The 1000 dollar tasting menu for two is an experience but I’m not sure I love that as the defining metric of our food scene.
Pretty surprised George didn’t get at least 1 star. It absolutely compares to other Michelin star restaurants I’ve been to.
Quetzal is one of my favourite restaurants in the city so super happy it got a star, but not sure it comes close to comparing to food, service or experience of George.
Surprised George didn’t make it to the list
Surprised Khao San Road didn’t get a bib when places like Campechano did
The Michelin app shows 26 restaurants with stars or Bib Gourmand but also shows another 48 restaurants with nothing. What are these 48 restaurants and how are they different from all other unlisted restaurants in Toronto?? Also, the event is like a high school level production!
Really? Mother’s Dumpling is the spot for Chinese food in the city? I can’t even..
made a big hoopla about how i’ve taken me mum to two restaurants in the listing. turns out it’s only bib gourmand. woops. should i tell her that they’re not real michelin starred restaurants?
and what’s up with places with no stars or bib gourmand? like pai. just them telling us they exist? or they have stars to spare?… oh wait…. recommended restaurants. i see.
What a boring list of “safe fancy” restaurants.
These French tiremongers really enjoy sushi, eh?
I often confuse the definition of some of the ratings, thought this guide could help others like me!
Bib Gourmand:
– NOT 0.5 star, but a separate category
– good value resturant – price per portion
– simpler food/style
– “something you feel you could replicate at home”
– leaves you with a sense of satisfaction for having eaten so much at such a good price
One star:
– high quality cooking
– worth a stop on a trip
Two star:
– excellent cooking
– worth a detour on a trip
Three star:
– exceptional cuisine
– worth a special journey

Richmond Station didn’t make the list? Koh Lipe did though and that’s a pleasant surprise.
I’m sorry but Mother’s Dumplings is awful why is it on here
The list boasts a most boring, narrow group of international cuisines and restaurant formats with no real local uniqueness – any other city in the world could cough up this stuff.
Such a list is meant to appeal to the snobbery of douchy people or the narcissistic instagram influencer crowd by giving them a FOMO object background + implied wealth. Also helps the owners who depend on social media type viral marketing – cheaper than other pay-to-play publications and lists if the government picks up the tab.
Some of these places are interesting and creatively make “edible art” – but these sort of “bucket list” things always end up attracting the tasteless but crassly monied trend chasers whose shallowness and lack of intrinsic appreciation of the very cultural thing listed – food in this case – debase both the art and cultural part for all.
It is a product placement marketing ad.
A lot of there places were already impossible to get reservations at and this is going to make it even harder (and a lot more expensive).
I’m so happy that Auberge du Pommier wasn’t anywhere near this list, absolute fraud of an establishment.
Bib Gourmand list is pretty interesting. Enoteca Sociale was really excellent when I went a few years ago. Can’t wait to try Chica’s Chicken soon!
I think they forgot to leave Yorkville…
