  1. I had my garden shaded for my cool weather crops. My eggplant was under it too. I notice when I recently took it off it started to wilt. Now I know why. Thanks for the info. Looking forward to the Seminole pumpkins video.

  2. I love your channel, Iโ€™m so glad I found you! My husband and I are just starting to learn about gardening and live in zone B9 (Sanford, FL).
Question, when and how can we start an avocado tree.
Thanks for the tips and video on the bananas, that is another one we are interested in. Actually, we have a banana plant in our back yard but it has never produced bananas.
I will be investing in one of your books!

  3. I learn so much from you. Thank you for the videos. I don't know if you have a starfruit tree but I recommend one. Those trees thrive in Florida. ๐Ÿ’š

  4. In Zone 9a, our green beans are wildly prolific right now! Our Italian red pepper plant that we overwintered is producing like crazy, too. Tomatoes are flowering and have small, green fruits. Summer Squash/Zucchini has lots of blooms. We might look into shade cloth, as the only sunny spot we have is along the southern side of our house, where it gets very hot in summer. Last year, almost all our tomatoes split. Gardening here is very different from Michigan, where we used to live. It's a learning curve, for sure. Love your channel! ๐ŸŒถ๐Ÿฅ’๐Ÿฅฌ๐Ÿ…

  5. Just finished the last of my cucumbers. Rotated in some pole beans in that area, sugar baby watermelon is coming in nicely and Tennessee musk melon. Planted my peppers in dabbled shade in hopes that they will make it thru a few seasons and not burn up. I have shade cloth ready just in case it starts to get to intense with sun. Pumpkin is starting to set flowers. For my blooming native Simpson's stopper (Myrcianthes fragrance) and wild coffee are smelling delightful.

  6. I planted pumpkin( the little ones) and the leaves just sprouted .. hopefully they make it. And I planted cucumbers๐Ÿฅ’ and the leaves just popped through too ๐Ÿคž

  7. Unknowingly, I had planted my Sunshine mimosa next to the Seminole pumpkins… But they too are so sad ๐Ÿ˜ข

  8. I had summer squash issues. I planted zucchini and crookneck squash. The zucchini went gang busters but the cn all look sickly and never did much. They are in two beds side by side so same light and pretty much same everything. I will try again in the fall. I know they are harder to grow here but they are my favorites so it is worth it to me.

  9. 9B, so sad, we TRIED seminole pumpkins….we got like little tiny green worms that really destroyed the vines before we got any pumpkins started. They just killed it. I have more of the good seeds I bought, so i am thinking we will try them again someday but maybe during cooler months, like start them maybe Dec (cover/protect if we get a freeze or two)? We started our full size tomatoes in Nov and altho we had two very bad freezes, we protected them (extension cord/heater/tent LOL it worked!) and they only are now just finishing. Florida = Topsy Turvy Growing Land ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. We moved down here from Maryland. My cucumbers are amazing and doing so well and much better than they did in Maryland! Do they do well in the middle of July?

  11. Just south of Orlando down in st cloud. My seminole pumpkins are going nuts and im germinating about a 12-20 females a week at this point as it continues to stretch across my property.
Is there any point you feel you start to get diminishing returns with too many pumpkins growing at once?
Also since theyve long since escaped my beds and garden area and are now in st augustine grass, is there any particular pest or problems i need to watch out for?

  12. I had Seminole pumpkin but it got completely infested with black bugs. I had to pull them. I only got a couple of pumpkins and it took a lot of space. Want to try again but kind of scared ๐Ÿ˜‚

  13. Thanx for your inspiration, l'm going to start gardening again!. I am going to start small with Everglade tomatoes only. When can I plant them? Also, for the future, can we grow Roma or San Marzano here? I'm in Clearwater…

  14. Cherokee beans have been so awesome! I love how they change colors… And even shelling is fun! Lol. I do have a question, though… It's my first year growing beans.. Is it still good to do another succession of them or is it too hot?

  15. I bought some native bee balm for my pollinator garden. I just found out it's aggressive. Oh no! should I pull it out and put it into pots?

  16. Have you tried candy roasters? I planted those for the first time this year. The vines are huge. Almost like my Seminole pumpkins.

  17. Ducks will eat the heck out of slugs and snails! And they don't scratch up the ground like chickens will. They also leave behind their manure to feed your plants.
