  1. >We suggest starting at Colonel Samuel Smith Park (there’s a parking lot for drivers and it is accessible by the 44 Kipling bus) to enjoy the waterfront trails and a bit of nature, then slowly making your way east along Lake Shore (walking from Thirteenth Street down to First Street) picking up takeout. Enjoy your delicious eats on the picnic benches at Prince of Wales Park while taking in views of the water and Toronto’s skyscrapers.

  2. Including Caribbean Hut over Mikes instantly disqualifies this article. What is this, the Sun?

Check out Loop Creamery in the area too for dessert.

I love Kitchen on Sixth along this strip, playful English pub that has lots of rotating items and daily specials, along with staples like Sunday roasts. One of the friendliest teams you’ll ever meet, they’re like all best friends somehow.

Guys, I hate to burst your bubble. I live in the area and these places are not good. Sub shop – okay subs, great owner. Thammada – nope, just average Thai at high prices (for Lakeshore) and doesn’t make up for Khao Ghaeng closing. Pai via Kitchen Hub is a better option. Halibut House is a crappy chain of fish and chips – if you want to do decent f&c try new Toronto fish and chips (again, just above average). Sydney grind is a good coffee shop, though they don’t do pour overs or particularly good drip. San Remo is great for volume, just okay for taste but cheap at least! Those polish jelly donuts at basket of bread are better and cheaper but still just meh!

There are a few other good places that weren’t included:

    – The Big Guy’s Little Coffee Shop
    – Bombay On The Lake for some good Indian food (for the area)
    – New Toronto Fish and Chips
    – The Kabob House for the shawarma wrap or lunch
    – Village Vinyl Cafe for some coffee while you dig through their record collection
