The chicken and the crunch are still the same after all these years 🥲

Miss this. They closed the one off Olympic in los angeles some time back and the one off sunset. Didn’t know there were 2 left. I think a trip to Boyle heights has become a priority.

I was like 10 years old and me and my little bro went to buy a drink to share while my mom was next door at the laundromat. I guess I tripped or something but I dropped my drink. The only thing I knew i had to do was to go tell and adult, which I did. I told a worker behind the counter. And he said something like “what do you want me to do?” Me: umm. Then he made me clean it up. I remember being a little too embarrassed to ever go into a Pioneer after that.

Growing up in Hawaii we had pioneer chicken. Last time I had pioneer was close to Dodger stadium. Somebody has to get that recipe quick.

I grew up eating the chicken sandwich! It was my fave when I was a kid.

You know…today is a day where I’m supposed to be cleaning up a bunch of shit and Downey is pretty close to to the Bell Gardens one. This caused a flood of crunchy memories about the SGV location. It legitimately was my grandpa’s favorite fried chicken.

It’s been thirty years since I’ve had pioneer chicken and when I see pics I still know exactly what it tastes like.
Wish the one in Westlake village was still around

I love that place , great memories I used to go there as a kid with my late brother . I’m hooked on the chicken strips and mashed potatoes.
