72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot

18 months in 40% new French oak

Deep ruby, totally opaque. It absolutely needs a bit of air, but I’m impatient and upon opening it smelled of rich black cherry, violet flower, dried currants, and dusted mushrooms. On the palate was an inviting blackberry jam that is immediately followed up with strong green bell pepper with an enveloping toasted cedar. Very thin-bodied, high tannin, medium acidity. After some decanting the tannins aren’t as harsh, but they weren’t really off-putting to begin with. The oak didn’t feel well-integrated, but to be fair I’m not the biggest fan of heavy oak presence in wine so that should be taken with a grain of salt. Could’ve definitely benefited from if left in the bottle for longer, but drinks great now.
