    Sorry for the essay here:

My fiancée and I opted for a lower priced tasting menu as we’re attempting to save for an LA-based wedding. That being said with all the drinks and extra apps it wound up being as much as most of our other tasting menu ventures. But all in all we both enjoyed our time at Meteora.

The ambiance is incredible. We both really dug the rainforest/jungle aesthetic they had going on. But most importantly the food was very enjoyable!

    Dishes featured:

    1. Scallops w/ hearth roasted pineapple, habanero ash and longanisa oil. Honestly the longanisa oil brought it all together and gave it a good amount of heartiness and flavor to the sweet scallops. Great start.

    2. Grilled spring peas w/ smoked almond cream, boiled peanuts and candied chili’s. One of the favorite dishes here. Who would’ve thought vegetables could be so hearty? Great charred and smoky flavors from the grilled peas and it melded very well with that wonderful almond cream. The peanuts and chilis gave it an additional soft, snappy texture that worked well with the peas.

    3. Shrimp cooked over hot stones with a coconut butter prawn head sauce and a butter lettuce wrap. Honestly delicious. Not the best value but the shrimp is perfectly cooked and pairs super well with the head butter dipping sauce.

    4. Burnt murasaki yams w/ smoked trout roe, grilled hazelnut, red papaya and a butter emulsion. My personal favorite dish. The yams carried so much charred flavor and coupled with the creaminess of the butter emulsion and the salty/fishy taste from the roe; tasted amazing.

    5. Carrot fed beef tartare w/ a smoked bone marrow emulsion, toasted seeds and dried chilis. This appetizer could’ve been bigger. It was delicious but only a few bites worth of tartare. The chili and butter emulsion work well but overpowered the beef a bit, could’ve used more meat in general to balance everything out and bring more value.

    6. Australian Wagyu w/ coal-roasted cucumbers, tamarind sauce and a sesame cream. Note to self; not a big fan of Australian wagyu, it’s just not quite as fatty, rich and tender as Japanese or American wagyu. This was the only dish we both liked enough but didn’t rate highly or think was entirely worth it. But our waiter did warn us that Australian wagyu was not like Japanese wagyu. That being said the charred cucumbers were lovely and the flavor was there just wasn’t a big fan of the steak’s texture or the tamarind sauce accompanying it.

    7. Whole Mandarin sorbet. Desert was quite lovely and refreshing especially after eating such rich dishes.

    8. Bonus cookie muffin thing that I remember being scrumptious but couldn’t tell you any tasting notes to it.

All in all we enjoyed our time at Meteora, the base tasting menu was $95 per person but we paid an extra $35 I believe each for the wagyu option. That was the only thing we regretted. Aside from that we would definitely return.
