  1. Could be potato blight, holes in leaves makes it look like they're about to start going.

  2. Did you earth them up as they were growing? As they come up the first time its good to re-bury them with a couple inchs of soil or compost, a few times. Stops any potatoes being to close to the surface n going green

  3. When potatoes arw exppsed to sunlight, they grow toxins which turn them green. DO NOT EAT THE GREEN PARTS. It was responsible for loads of deaths during the Irish Famine

  4. You need to add soil as the plants grow, potatoes turn green when exposed to sunlight. The green ones have developed solanine to a higher percentage. Next time start them in lower soil and add more as they get taller. You'll get a higher amount of harvest too.

  5. In Idaho we kill off the green tops and let them sit for a week. That's to cure the skins then harvest. What I think is happening is natural. The tops will start to die off when they are close to being ready to harvest.

  6. Living traditions homestead used weed blanket on one of their videos and it worked well for them. The potatoes that were above ground but under the blanket didn't turn green. 😊

  7. They only went green because they were exposed to the sunlight when they start to stick out of the soil just cover them up with more soil, also cut off the green parts cause they are hard to eat

  8. Green ones shouldn't be eaten. They are poisonous. Eve if its just the tip, solanine buildup is enough to cause illness.

  10. The green thing happens when potatoes are exposed to light. This is due to formation of chlorophyll (which is found in all green plants), however the green colour is a useful indicator that levels of certain toxins that are harmful to humans, known as glycoalkaloids, may be increased.

  11. You can also top kill the potato plant. Leave the potatoes in the ground for about another 10 days. Helps makes the plant more resistant to diseases. Also makes the skin better.

  13. I miss our big potato bin! It’s still out there, but it’s used for storage. 😂 If you didn’t grow up with a garden full of potatoes, you really should try a small scale. Potatoes are fun. So are onions, just don’t mix them. 😊

  14. 'Weird green ones'???. They stuck out the soil, thats how they get green. That's basic potato stuff

  15. Those potatoes are unusually clean coming right out of the ground like that and where are the roots that are normally attached to them. This whole video seems fishy to me.
