Our visit to Raffi’s was not as impressive as we had anticipated. We had high expectations, but were greeted with food that was overcooked and difficult to eat, aside from the chicken koobideh. Additionally, we had to wait for an hour to secure a table for three. Our order included a rack of lamb and Chicken Soltani. Unfortunately, the lamb and the chicken barg was quite dry. It’s disheartening to write a negative experience, especially when the establishment is supposed to be a top-notch destination for Persian cuisine.

I’m biased because I love Raffis but I think it’s unfair to dock any restaurant for the wait if you didnt have a reservation – even if it’s walk-in only, that’s something beyond their control. The restaurant is huge and service has always been quick (for me – I dont know if it got worse) and I usually dont go back to a restaurant if the servers rush me if I was only there for an hour (definitely not going to camp at a table during rush hour if I’m done eating but still)

Sorry to hear that OP! Try Shekarchi in dtla

Honestly the best. And actually very respectable priced as far as quality and quantity. I can’t think of a better middle eastern restaurant in LA

Trippin, raffi’s is bomb. I’ve tried them all

I like Sahara in Pasadena. Just my personal preference.

  6. Raffi’s is the most overrated Iranian place in LA. My recs as an Iranian:

    – Fanoos (Torrance)
    – Chicken Chick (Torrance)
    – Flame (Westwood)
    – Toranj (Westwood)
    – Attari (Westwood, they’re primarily a sandwich shop)

    and for desert
    – Saffron and Rose (Westwood)

This doesn’t look appetizing at all

Still the GOAT, decades and running. I’d recommend some Ghormeh sabzi too next time and some Zereshk polo. It seems like from your images you just got skewers of meat and vegetables which may be a poor reflection of the overall menu)

Mini Kabob is also very good but it’s the same price for less than half of what you would get at Raffis without the setting and water/lavash/mints/bread/butter etc. It’s also a very limited menu in a very small place. It’s kind of like comparing Vietnamese place that serves only Pho vs a place that sells all Vietnamese cuisine so the comparing is also odd.

(Also calling their ikra, eggplant caviar will never jive with me. I know it’s the name of the menu item but it’s like calling Pho, noodle soup with filet mignon in Westminster)

Beef Soltani is the way to go, what chelo kabab is supposed to be, but either way great restaurant. Shamshiri on Tampa in the valley is also very very good, weird location but one of the best.

Pardis is good as well if you want a nice venue in Glendale like Raffi’s.

I still haven’t found a place that does ghormeh sabzi as good as Old Fashioned Deli.

Raffi is by far the worst character in Star Trek Picard.

As someone who has worked the kebab station at a restaurant, looks good, I have to try.

I went to Mini Kabob and they were already sold out. He told me to go to Hamlets, has anybody been?

Heard a lot about this place see if it lives up to the hype next time I’m out that way
