I’m a huge burger fanatic and this is by far the best burger I’ve ever had. They use to have a brick-and-mortar but closed due to the pandemic – now they operate after hours (5-10pm) out of COFAX in the Fairfax area.
Please y’all, give ‘em business if you can. I don’t want to see this burger die again.
Pro Tip – they also have amazing lamb and turkey burgers (turkey burger not officially on menu but is still served)

They stopped serving their sweet potato fries? and is that ketchup instead of their garlic aioli?
My go to burger
not hating but that burger looks very boring/plain. I am confused about the choice of greenery and well choice of toppings. Can you explain the taste and why its the best you had?
This is also my favorite burger in LA. I get the regular fries with the garlic aioli. Their coleslaw is great too, and I’m not even a coleslaw person.
I love Golden State, used to live a block away and got it all the time. I’ve been wanting to try their new smash burger for a while.
Thank you so much for posting! I live right nearby and love Cofax but had no idea about Golden State! The only sadness is that I wish they had a true veggie/garden burger—my vegetarian partner hates impossible/beyond type patties. Oh well more for carnivore me
Is it the same burger from the old brick and mortar?
This is my burger of choice as well. It’s delicious, consistent, and priced fairly. Order extra fry sauce and douse the burger in it for that X factor.
Wow, I didn’t know Golden State is gone. It was my favorite for a long time when we live near it.
Not really sure that Golden State ever really “died” so much as it was much cheaper to operate in this other, smaller space that they owned and weren’t using in the afternoon/evening. It’s the same people and Cofax is easily their more popular/successful spot (plus them coffee margins).
This thing used to be pretty much the undisputed best burger in LA. I do think that with the burger explosion plenty of places met and/or surpassed it, but I still love this one. Definitely has its own identity.
Also big on the lamb burger, and I’m usually not a lamb burger guy.
