What are these? I mean the time I spent typing this sentence I could have googled 3 times but here we are

This actually looks good here but there’s no way in hell that I’d eat one of these.

Ok maybe for at least $300 I’d do it

Just gimme the vinegar and seasalt my dude.

To the people who’ve tried it: what’s the texture of the bones, feathers, and beak like?

Nahh. This is on my “never eat” list along with surstromming and hakarl, among others.

It’s a lot prettier than what my mom and sister tried to feed me as a kid.

Andrew Zimmern did one show on Bizarre Foods for Balut and he had hard time with it.

I have a hard time getting past the texture of a plain jane boiled chicken egg and yolk, there is no way I could do a balut unless I had been raised on it or was desperately hungry.

For as many years as I’ve seen Balut just sucked from the shell; as a wannabe chef, I’m kicking myself for never having thought of preparing it in such a manner.

I’m half Filipino and even I can’t bring myself to eat it.

  11. I love exotic foods and will eat almost anything. The 1 thing in this world I refuse to even try.

I will eat just about anything but balut and tarantulas I’m using my safe word

  13. Even with all the dressings, I never could stomach it as a kid. Thankfully, it’s becoming more hard to find Stateside (at least for my family).

  14. I absolutely love these but have never eaten them this way. Only ever used salt and pepper. Easily my favorite delicacy ever. Although they’re hard to find where I live.

  15. Asking an honest question here… why? Is there a tradition or significance? What is the origin of this dish?

I low key love these but idk what y’all are talking about fermented (maybe fertilized is what y’all meant) when we eat them they’re just fertilized, developed, and fresh boiled til done.

I don’t eat the actual bird tho, just the yolk, the white, and broth.
