Hi! First year gardener and wondering if this radish or the others around it are ready to harvest. Google isn’t the most helpful so thought I’d ask for advice on here! Thanks 🌱

  1. Planted them April 10th and I’m in suburbs of Chicago area!

Radishes are usually ready to harvest when they are about 1 inch in diameter at the soil surface, but it can depend on the specific variety you are growing. If you see a round, red bulb protruding from the soil, like I think I see in the pics, it’s typically a good sign that the radish is ready to be harvested. Another way to check is to gently move the soil aside at the base of the plant to see the size of the radish. If it’s about 1 inch or so in diameter, it’s usually ready. If it’s smaller, you can cover it back up and let it grow a bit more.

Remember, radishes grow quickly and can become woody if left in the ground too long, so it’s better to harvest a bit early than too late.

If there is a bulb under the dirt, then yes. If it’s too small, wait longer. You will just have to take a look.
