    I used to love going to Pioneer with my dad, picking up a family pac to go.

    All of them but two are gone nowadays and I’m not sure the one in Boyle Heights and the one in Bell Gardens are even the same company.

    The recipes were definitely different, and they’ve both changed several times over the decades.

    Haven’t gone to either since the pandemic started. I was told they revamped the Boyle Heights one. Did they go back to the original recipe as well?

    HBD! TIL that Pioneer Chicken is still operating in LA. The last one that I saw was in Hacienda Heights. Really miss that place.

    Pioneer chicken is hands down one of the best fried chicken spots in the area. Never tried the shrimp but I’ll take your word for it and get the plate next time I go. Happy Birthday man

    L.A. knows. I grew up on this. There was a pioneer a few min from my house growing up and then KFC took it over. I was so mad. Haven’t had it in 25-30 years 🙁
