Tried Underdog last week. Great wine selections, love the vibe and great service. Food is Korean influenced but personally I find it lacking. Oysters were fresh but the kimchi vinaigrette could use more of a punch. Overall the dishes were underwhelming for me. The Korean flavor tone wes really mild. The sides for the Bossam were decent but the pork belly was a little dry. They plan to change menu seasonally and improve from feedback.

Portions are so small and doesn’t look amazing either

Is the bread dipped in gold?

1/2 a fried chicken for $38?????
PistonMilk
I’m sorry but they lost me at $9 bread and butter.
It’s free at 99% of places because it’s some of the cheapest fucking food on the planet.
itsRutes
It’s that expensive, and the portions are that tiny? Added to the “avoid” list

After being in Vegas for a week, didn’t think I’d see the same prices when I came home….

Salt Bae prices on food that really doesn’t sound that cool.
Sheesh

Ok I went past the absurd bread and butter price, what the hell is a “market vegetable?”

If you served me that $38 3-piece chicken meal I would laugh in your face. The blue crab & trout roe crispy rice is not plated well at all. [Mimolette dip.](https://youtu.be/UXXmFHJZnDg?t=93) I’m surprised OP says the pork was only a little dry. Sad to hear the kimchi vinaigrette was lackluster, oysters seemed to be the only thing worth the asking price with proper plating.
I get its a wine bar, the location, and inflation. But this aint it, don’t charge those prices if you can’t back it up. I hope they give out “I’m an idiot” stickers for whoever pays $9 for “housemade” bread and butter.

I went this past week… very impressed, especially considering they just opened. Everything we had was delicious, service was tight, and the wine list is awesome. The room can get loud, which isn’t something that bothers me, but I’m sure they’ll get comments about it. This will go into my rotation alongside a handful of other great, independent spots that this sub loves to dump on.

Went last week as well and thought the food was quite good! I’m Korean and I usually hate the idea of “modern” Korean cuisine but I thought that there was a strong point of view when it came to the dishes. The strong point of the meal for me was the galbi – it was marinated very well and cooked perfectly. Served with scissors just hot mama does it. Loved that little touch. Standouts were the donuts and mjmolette dip and the kimchi cheese hotteok. Wine selection was unique and exciting. Agreed that the menu is pricey but this will be a special occasion place for me for sure. Also – isn’t Austin just generally super pricey for this type of restaurant?

These prices are so fucked lol

the random slice of milk bread intrigues me with the fried chicken. Haven’t seen that ever done with KFC (korean fried chicken)

Please launch sister restaurants called Overdog and Updog.

I found the food good but too pricey. My body wasn’t ready for the kimchi either.
I wouldn’t go back myself but I’d take my wife for her to give it a shot.
I did get a good bottle from the store next door.

Went a few days ago … food was definitely meh
Wait staff was super cool and trying to make it work.

We need a real underdog restaurant in this city that’ll serve good food at affordable prices

I get the sticker shock that some people are having, but that stuff is hard to gauge until you try it. You can make fried chicken with a food cost of almost nothing or absurdly expensive depending on the ingredients and technique.
Not going to go until I see a wine list and it sounds like mixed reviews on food so maybe kitchen still sorting some things out. There are enough generic natural wine spots out there already, but at least they bring a more original spin on the food side.

I went on Monday. We had the steamed mussels & clams and they were soooo good. Didn’t love the wines, though. The white was nice, but the rosé tastes like those funeral flowers.

Okay but the bread is an entire loaf
