The best Honduran baleadas I’ve had in a long time and they are centrally located on the corner of MLK and Chicon. This version of the national dish of Honduras is a giant handmade 12″ tortilla stuffed with beans, avocado, Salvadoran creme, queso fresco, scrambled egg and meat. My prayers have been answered!
Also pictured is the delicious quesabirria with consomme. It was my dining companion’s favorite but all that cheese and goat meat made it a little too rich for my tastes

I’ve never seen a baleada that golden colored. I’m here for it, though. Is it crisped up in oil?

I usually eat baleadas at Antojitos El Progreso on North Lamar or Antojitos Hondureños which used to be on North Lamar and recently moved to Georgian, and what I love about them are the thick, soft, fluffy, airy, freshly made-to-order gigantic flour tortillas. They are the tortillas of my dreams. With the crema (which they call mantequilla in Honduran Spanish), refried beans, and avocado, everything is really moist, and with the scrambled eggs it feels like a giant breakfast taco.
