Food prices are astronomically high. We are having to evaluate the flyers for sales and plan accordingly. I had to dive in to our budget for next month for these deals that I saw at Brookeshire‘s this morning. We are having to get creative. I’m sure you are too.

Yes we always shop Brookshires ad items every week !
I have a freezer full of butter and a pantry full of homemade ghee! I like to cook up huge batches of bacon in the oven and I save all the lard.
We only have one store here in the desert and we were paying Hawaiian prices 3 years ago. Butter is around $8 and ribeye is $20 a pound! 😢 a little pint of cream is $8.99.
Good deal on bacon there. We just got a meat bundle from the local butcher. Trying to store up for a year including getting a deer this fall.
Hey Jill 😊
Just drop in to say hello ..
We are always watching your videos.. love them all
Your are so right . Walmart had cream cheese and condensed milk
For 1.00 also look at the date and they were still good for another 11/2 yr
Ask just out of Curiosity
🤷♀️
Why they were selling them so reasonable.. they said they had some much in they had to sell them before the holidays good starting coming in the stores
So I got some for my holidays baking. Wow that was a great price . I know that early but little at a time ..
So when you go to Walmart just check there in end caps .. they don’t advertise the sales ..
This week I got small boxes of cornbread for 25 cents .. I use the food I got and they were great
Again the dates still were good on the cornbread we use them for fish fry’s
Or just cornbread.
I ‘m leaving some for the holidays ..
can you believe Walmart still had a few strawberries plants and they cleared them out and I got some for my green stock and doing great ..
so when you go to Walmart just make a quick look At the clearance
Never know what you can found . I got some matches and candles sticks ..
I don’t found things on clearance all the time
But I just go make a quick trip around end caps .
You be surprised what you found that we use
Like right after holidays great time to look for food items.
Just ideas to help out ..
Great video girl as always
Love and prayers 💕always
Oh by the way my hubby and boys said to make sure to can plenty of jill jalapeño this year .. I love that I can make one or two jars at a time when the jalapeño are ready to pick
Love your recipe.👒
Thanks you 💕
Blessing

Hey Jill, Dora here from school. I understand what you are talking about dipping into extra money. I always check my Albertsons and Kroger ads. I ran to Krogers' yesterday and spent more money than I had intended. But, they had several items on sale cheaper with the digital coupons, and on some of them, you can get a limit of 5. So, I stocked up on mustard, BBQ sauce, apple juice, fettuccine, and cereal that my granddaughter likes. Plus, I found a few items in their discontinued/clearance section. I keep extra butter in my freezer as well. Albertsons had the 3lb bacon on sale a few weeks ago, and I divided it up and vacuumed sealed it, to go in the freezer. We don't go through bacon as much, but for the price, I couldn't pass it up. I miss going to Brookshire's, too bad they closed the stores in the area. We pay more for our ground beef through a meat locker/butcher shop, but it tastes so much better than the store bought and doesn't have all the liquid in it.
That's just smart! 🙂
I find brookshires to be generally a little pricey imo
That is so right, i fight so hard not to broke down . God is in it . I got an Aldi near me so that helps alot.
God bless.
Butter is ridiculous. I got 4lbs at Costco yesterday for $12.99.
All my meats I get once a year or every other year by buying a half cow and whole hog. Stings when you get them but its nice not having to purchase them throughout the year as well as knowing I don't have to worry about meat prices at the grocery store. Also knowing that it is MUCH better quality meat.
Solid advise!! When you see gas prices going up, everything thing else will follow! FJB!
We had a steer processed and split it 4 ways with family and two close friends who'd helped us through hard times. So, we have plenty of beef for the two of us. Each month I've been buying extra bacon. Seems like we go thru a lot. I've put back ghee and have butter in the freezer. But, each month it gets harder to stock up extra.
Thanks Jill for the suggestions.
Remember ya'll to Pray, Plan, Prep
I keep several jars of frozen strained bacon grease in the freezer at all times. I even have jars of chicken and beef fat frozen. The price of cooking oils and the health concerns around some vegetable oils makes keeping and using that extra fat important to me.
Good looking-out! Hugs. ❤
Grocery prices here in Canada are even more expensive here. Butter is around $6.99 for 454 grams. Gotta jump on sales for sure! We're a family of 6 and its getting near impossible to stay within our budget.
Good morning Jill!! Yes prices are crazy right now. You are smart shopping right now. Thumbs Up for All you share!
On my way to Sam’s in Tuscaloosa this morning. I am using butter right now that was in my freezer for 3 years; it is perfect. I have been canning ground beef too, but have not found any for $2.99 a pound! Great deal! ❤
You know, I get the HEB, Kroger, Aldi, and local Food Town ads each week. Why did I never think to sub to the Brookshire ads? 🤦🏻♀️ Thanks for the kick in the pants! I'll sub them now!
You go girl. You found some great buys. Have to grab them when you see them or they'll be gone. We've been buying a pound of butter at the Amish store for 2.59 a lb, stocking the freezer. They also carry cream cheese for cheaper and we freeze that to. You just never know when you see won't be able to get these things at all or just out priced.
Great finds! I weighed my tomatoes last week as I picked. Looked at the price online and tallied the results. 64.00 in tomatoes. Yes, there is a cost up front!! However, each mater has free seeds in it. They pay it forward, all by themselves. Plus the scraps are going into the compost, or to the worms for perpetual fertilizer and mulch. The benefits far out weigh the costs with a garden! AND, it does eventually pay for itself. 😊- dollar wise. But the joy, immediate results. 😁😊
Great buys! I do the exact same thing shop the sales ads every week especially for meat. I am working the 365 jar challenge as well. Thanks for this challenge! My hands look exactly like yours😂! Have a blessed day my friend!
Prices keep going up and no signs of coming back down. 😢
One of my biggest money savers on meat is buying directly from the farmer. I get a quarter or a half of beef or pork at a time. When you look at the per pound price it is great. I can get steaks and roasts at a fraction of the price. The quality is also so much better!
Bacon at that price I would have picked up four of them….but that me….
Thanks Jill🥰 Its definitely been a struggle to stay on budget. Being retired and on a monthly budget is getn tougher & tougher each month it seems.
Like you, Jill…I watch those ads like a hawk…lol. Always have. Got to. Thanks for a good reminder….really, you were just able to buy some things a little early…which now, the money won't have to be spent next month…you bought just a little ahead of time. Wise lady.
When I first started learning to can during COVID, butter at a couple of different grocery stores was $1.50-1.99 a lb. I went crazy and bought 36 lbs…lol. And canned it. Also canned some milk…whole and 2%. Might be opening a can of worms here but I've been eating and drinking it, cooking with it and still doing fine. Also—-amazingly, one store had big yellow onions on sale for 9 cents a lb. I canned plain onions, onion relish, carmelized onions…lol….even onion broth from the chopped off ends and peels. It was a cheap way for me to practice canning and learn.
Again….please keep reminding us of little ways to save Jill. Also, I have to go to the internet to see ads. They quit mailing them out down here during covid. Also, our Brookshire in this area is the highest priced store…never sales like yours offers. Odd, huh?
Ok…gotta hit the list. Jesus bless.
Hope you can get a good harvest from your garden! Hail came through central Texas on Sunday and destroyed the garden I was getting fresh vegetables from. So sad!
Hey Jill real good deals!!!!! Our three freezers are packed full. We make our own bacon from pork belly, much lower in price. $2.99 lb for ground beef, WOW! We are going later today. We don't can lot's of meat, can you do a video on that? Looking forward to seeing yawl. God Bless.
Well done Jill!…🙏💜✨
So happy to see I’m not the only one who have garden hands 😂. That is great bacon. Good price on butter. Omgosh great price on ground beef!
TX we love you
If I even have grocery $, my budget is $12-$20 a week. Garden is just getting going here in WA. Been using dandelion, lambs quarters, purslane. I have laying hens.
Excellent price for bacon 😊 You did great on your items!
Ground beef is not good canned ,how to you make it tast better
thank you sis for the updates. We don't that store here, I have Kroger, Albertsons, Winco and Tom Thumb. Great finds for you.
You found some good deals! It’s sad that we are getting excited over $10 bacon, it wasn’t too long ago that was the normal price but these days it’s a bargain!
I watch the ads too. That’s the only way I can keep up with the inflation. I have flat out stopped buying several things to keep from feeling as bad a sting at the checkout. I was going to buy a can of olives yesterday for a recipe and they were over $4 for the store brand at Krogers!! I can’t justify paying that for the same can that was a $1.25 tops two years ago.
I agree, I watch the adds like a hawk and pick up things in bulk when they are on sale. Today I found strawberries for 98cent a pound at my local WinCo. I bought a case to make into jam today and hope to get more tomorrow or Saturday.
Imagine how expensive chicken would be if the factory farms weren’t permitted to feed garbage to the chickens. In the wild, chickens spend much of their days foraging for sprouts and insects, meaning that their diet provides them with plenty of nutrition.
Unfortunately, factory farm conditions provide little opportunity for similar diet supplementation.
When factory farms are raising chickens, they feed them only GMO grains, and their rations are often mixed with ground up bits from other animals,11) including the carcasses of cows, pigs and even other chickens.
I am curious what is your view on the peanut situation?
My wife was at our local Weis grocery store several days ago and they have ribs, pork chops and pork loin for buy 1 get 2 free on each!! She took advantage of that deal. Last week she found a spiral ham for $9 with our Shoppers Card discount. Deals are out there. Just gotta look and be ready to grab'em
Also watch the labels now. There are many of the packaged foods that now say in tiny print by the ingredients "made with bioengineered ingredients". I checked at the Dollar Tree and loads of foods with this statement, including Betty Crocker mixes, Hungry Jack Potatoes, Pillsbury cake mixes, Knorr pasta and rice mixes and more. If they are starting to add the GMO ingredients other ingredients might be next. Be careful and read the labels, these products might be cheaper but they might not be good for your health. If a product says sugar and not pure cane sugar, it is probably GMO beet sugar and Jif peanut butter contains both soy and beet sugar. My husband went shopping last Sunday, the grocery store said that they are going to push harder for people to do the home delivery or pick up at the stores more because they can charge a fee to do that and by doing the deliveries or pick up, you agree to them substituting what they want or just not fulfilling the entire order to possibly ration what people are able to get.
Jill, how long will better last when you freeze it?
Butter at our local store was over $9, generic brand over $5
TIP shop your stores around 8-9 am. This is when the butchers start putting half price tags on meat. Also other dept start putting the half price stickers out to. My freezer is full of factory vacuum sealed half price meat and chicken. I see milk discounted several times a week along with other dairy products. If you can go in the morning b4 everybody else. I shop at Kroger and Albertson for these deals and whatever good coupons they have and get the rest at Walmart. I love this channel also!
