was very pleased with these bagels I preordered from David Doughies. Preorders for the Lakeline and Mueller farmer market open at 12 pm on Mondays. You can skip the line and grab your preorder. Lakeline less crowded.

There’s a new bagel contender in town called David Doughies and I’m disappointed by most bagels in town. My current gotos are Nervous Charlie’s for bagel sandwiches and Rockstar for bagels in general. I preordered 1/2 a dozen bagels, they are 2.5 each. I also got the scallion cream cheese spread and the smoked salmon, all made in house by the owner. When i went to go pick up my preorder I also tried the bagel sandwich with salmon. The bagels are stellar, like seriously great chew, flavor, and soft and fluffy. The taste is really great and it’s the best bagel i’ve ever had in Austin, shoot maybe even in my life. Apparently, he hand rolls each bagel, ages it for 2 days, and adjusts the pH of the water to match new york. I can see why people think it’s pricey but considering the use of the barton springs mill flour which is so freaking expensive and the high quality salmon he uses. And the costs of commercial kitchen and farmers market fees, I can see why it’s a higher cost. If you compare it to other spots in town it’s about .5 cents more per bagel, which i’m happy to pay for that product. Just wanted to post this in case you were looking for a good bagel in Austin. I brought some bagel snob friends with me and they loved them, one from baltimore who visited new york multiple times for bagels. Make sure to preorder so you can skip the line. If you wanna stand in line to order a bagel sandwich, the lakeline location has a short line.

i hesitated posting this here because i’m sure the price critics are gonna be mean, but i know quite a few on here were looking for bagels. A few of my followers from NYC said they went to try it after i posted and loved it.

Right on, they look good! That’s $30 for a dozen though. 😳 I appreciate the effort and love the attention and artisan approach, but to me it’s just a bagel, I’ll stick to where I can get a bakers dozen for 14. Wish them the best though, they look great

Something about this post feels like.spon con, but I’m a skeptic.

Can a fellow MoT give a recco for a good bagel available all week?

I always trust your recommendations so I’ll have to check them out!

  7. I grew up in NJ and have serious bagel opinions. I like Nervous Charlie’s and they get big points for Taylor ham, but I usually go Rosens, which can be hit or miss but usually hits.

    Haven’t tried David’s yet!

I was about to complain and say you’re ripping off an IG account then I saw the profile name 😆 Cool to see you on Reddit and I love the content you put out!

    Where do you buy them?
Doesn’t come up on a map search of Austin.

  10. Wish they had more sandwich options at mueller market. Not a huge fan of Lox but I’d crush some egg/ham or egg/bacon

I’m gonna guess that sandwich is in the 27$ range
