End of an era. You’d eat like a king when you got one of their platters.
Edit: damn autocorrect, changed to era

I really appreciate this post because I’ve never been and will definitely make it once before closing.

There used to be so many Hungarian restos on Bloor. In the late 80s, as poor students, a friend of mine and I would go to the Korona every few months. We loved the kitchy 50s European music, the waitress you always said “Yes, please!”, the time warp decor, all of it.l We’d split a Transylvanian wooden platter for ONE and we 2 hungry young men would struggle with it. And all that bread they gave you! One of the few places I’d ever eaten liver at, it was so amazing.
This is the final end of an era. The Hungarian community that came over after 1956 now has grandchildren who have grown up and dispersed. I’m going to play some BB Gabor now.
