  1. I’m a little mixed on whether a business that has been around this long should do a gofundme but I hear this place mentioned a lot here. I think if people really like the place this is an opportunity to save it. I think it’s better that a place makes a post like this before they close rather than after. Honestly I kind of feel like a kickstarter would be better avenue as the backers could get something out of it.

Isn’t that what the PPP loan was for?

For-profit establishments asking for donations through gofundme seems …weird. If you have a hard time retaining staff maybe you should pay them a bit more, and if you can’t do that, maybe it’s time to shut down.

I love Hoovers. Haven’t been in probably five years but the food was always good.

I went to Hoover’s last month and it is usually really good southern comfort food. But this last time it was not good. Cold food. And left with upset stomach which never happens. I read some reviews and i think it went under new ownership or management and has gone down hill from there. Hate to see this iconic restaurant fail.

I agree with others – start a Kickstarter and offer some incentives. A for-profit business asking for charity seems odd, unless it’s something like unforseen medical issues, etc

But fyi, I searched and it looks like they didn’t take any PPP money.

That $250k fundraising goal is pretty steep

  8. I am torn. Loved Hooters, but agree quality has slipped. In fact the last time I went, it was embarrassingly bad. It used to be a staple to take visitors. Then they closed for lunch for a while. And started charging the server health care surcharge. I question management, at this point.

    Edit: Hoover’s!!!!

    Hot take:

Hoover’s was always just decent. I never understood the hype.

  10. “That’s not how this works… that’s not how any of this works.”

    Business is a meritocracy.

Where did the PPP money go lol…this seems scammy

They had a 2nd location that didn’t last long at Anderson Mill and 183. It was hit or miss. When it was good, it was really good! But when it was bad, it was really bad.

Hoover’s fought hard against the city ordinance to give workers paid sick leave. Hoover’s can go fuck themselves.

  14. FlickerOfBean

Why the fuck are they allowed to get a gofundme for a personal business?

So what? They can’t pay their own staff? Tips not enough? Now a go fundme? Hard pass for me.

  16. Hey Hoover I can give you the #s of about fifty folks that have left me voicemails regarding ppp loans if yiu want their numbers

Why should I give someone the money I make so THEY can make money??? I don’t think asking for GoFundMe cash is a “business decision”. It screams poor management and desperation.

Seems expanding when asking for a recovery gofundme is a little…..hmm

Maybe if their food was good, they’d earn enough money to reach their goals.
