Tried out Prime Seafood Palace to see what the hype was. Amazing architecture but the service felt a little forced…almost as if they were following a set routine. Food was definitely above average.

The prime rib roast and the palace potatoes coupled with the accompanying aioli were the stand out stars.

The glaring con is the pricing…Matty must’ve been smoking a helluva blunt when setting the prices for this menu. The bite sized lobster & spaghetti dish was a whopping $50…..I mean c’mon! Total bill for all dishes came out to $500+. Pricing is completely out of touch with what was being offered.

We had an enjoyable meal but nothing that warrants the price tag.

That looks incredible, but that price is likely purposeful to keep out the plebs like me lol

You’re paying for the status of telling your friends you’ve been.

Such is life in this hypebeast era.

Haha, don’t worry I’ll sneak you in as my +1 😉🦐

Sort of how I felt, I really enjoyed the food, and the design of the restaurant is spectacular, but the price just makes it unattractive. Lots of much better restaurants in the city at the same price range imo.

Lol, I would lose my shit if the prime rib was served cut like that. I moved out to get away from my parents.

As someone who was formerly in food and hospitality and has a varying amount of convectiveness to the community and industry still (such as knowing a few of the people who work there for example), I believe the prices are reflective of Matty doing what he can to ensure he pays the people at his restaurants above average the industry norm and trying to lead a culture change regarding pay and such (especially since the pay-to-work ratio in restaurants for cooks and such is pretty shockingly low for the relative effort and hard work and such).

    >It’s tough predicament to be in and this could be unpacked so many different ways.

    >From what I gather, Matty’s been making a conscious effort to drive some positive change in the industry with his restaurants. It seems like he’s deliberately trying to pay better wages, feature the chefs he partners with and generally run his restaurants better. Suresh alluded to a portion of this in a recent ig q+a and some of this is just reading in between the lines.

    >But obviously this means higher (and in this case, much higher) prices than the norm.

    >I think it’s great Matty can leverage his celebrity status in a way that ultimately benefits someone who’s part of the culture. In the end, I think it will just draw a different audience, so that’s cool. With the way Spadina is changing, this feels like an okay middle ground

I think it looks fantastic. If you had to go again what would you order?

Wow drools. But yea, the pride is crazy! On Google it says avg price is $100+/person… dang

i asked our server about the pricing (we sat at the bar and just had the tartare) and she said, “tourists looking for a celebrity sighting and a selfie with the wood wall”.

I cannot & will not eat at any establishment affiliated with Matty M. I used to live 2 blocks from Parts & Labour. I walked through the alleyway behind the restaurant , and seen MM hanging at the back too many times to count. I can’t un-see what has been seen. He is a social media & celebrity buffoon. But as a chef, ….. he is a fraud, and you are all getting scammed.
