Louisianas has good fried chicken and good fried rice 🤷‍♂️

  3. NeverAGoodCall

Try Ghengis Cohen for all your east coast Chinese food needs.

Update us if you find it! I’ve seen this question asked about once a month on different forums/groups hahaha. The closest I’ve found is the fried chicken from Chef Ming’s kitchen. I like their General Tso’s too.

Man closest one I know is Shandong in SF. And they’re overrated.

Idk about ny style chinese but there’s a dope place in Pasadena called Top Restaurant that has Indonesian style fried chicken that looks similar to this. It’s fucking dank

Look for salt and pepper Chinese wings

    Chinatown – ABC Seafood Express
Glendale – House of Joy (similar, with spicy seasoning)
Places like Chinatown Express tend to have these also.

That plate brought back memories of college on the east coast.

Maxim Chinese food on Hollywood and Gower has had fried chicken for as long as I can remember.

My go to mom and pop in the area.

Not Chinese— but Tokyo Fried Chicken is amazing! My favorite!

Shlap Muan Chicken Wings in Long Beach is excellent. Is it NY style? I’ve no idea. Order “the dirt” seasoning.

Not close to LA but spicy noodle house in Costa Mesa has something similar.

very weird how char siu is so rare here and when you find it it’s not cheap, no spare ribs, no big bubbly east coast egg rolls…I dont get it.

  15. Golden Scoop on Lincoln in/near Venice area.

Ok stay with me for a sec… On 5th and Western theres a California market, next to the bakery inside the market theres some restaurants there. Whatever you’re looking for here, its there. Try the honey glazed fried chicken

Hong Kong gold(idk if it’s still there but it was phenomenal)

Ive seen multiple places in LA that serve fried chicken, chinese food, and pastrami. I can’t recall a single place name off the top of my head for some reason.

    Specific to your inquiry, though:

Randy’s Donuts & Chinese Food comes to mind.

Hong kong bowl & La fried chicken on Vermont.

Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken & Chinese Food on Central Ave.

    Tangential but worth mentioning:

Look up Uncle John’s Cafe in downtown. Used to be a diner, but then a chinese family bought it. Instead of replacing the diner menu, they just added a chinese food menu. So now you can get diner food and chinese food together. Hello steak eggs fried rice combo. Teriyaki chicken and eggs. Chasu grilled cheese. Chasu omelet. You get the idea. They dont specifically do fried chicken with fried rice, but they have egg rolls, spicy pork chops, eggs, burgers…

  19. fewconclusions

They don’t have this in LA, but Golden Scoop in Venice has fried chicken that’s not that bad.

Baccali Cafe in Alhambra has a fried curry wing. Not sure if it’s exactly the same though. Pics on yelp

If you’re near Chinatown, go to Yang Chow for their fried chicken and slippery shrimp 👌

  23. longlanes

Try sea dragon in Virgil village. Im from nyc, closest to any Chinese spot I’ve found so far

  24. razorduc

Phoenix Food Boutique (not the cake bakery) in Chinatown has great salt and pepper wings.

  25. InqusitiveCub

This brought tears to my eyes ……. My girlfriend and I have this conversation everyday how we miss the “ bright yellow rice with the little pork cubes and the sprouts , with the salt and pepper NYC wings “ 😭 this is the picture I was describing.

Kims Chinese in on Crenshaw. Legit Old School Chinese place that does things RIGHT. Fresh Veggies, no steam table… Amazing to go…

They have both Chicken Wing (as an App) and BBQ Pork Fried Rice. It won’t be exactly like this, but hits all the right notes.

Also, the wings have been showing up on occassion at the New China Buffet (Crenshaw or Inglewood), it’s a super inexpensive by the lb buffet to go place. They also have Char Siu as an option
