Just saw this at an airport and I was very confused. Has anyone else seen this? Does anyone know what would actually be in one of these?

My guess they’re either not Wagyu or if they are it’s probably 40% American Wagyu and 60% Angus

Even at 50/50 you’ll only be getting 25% Wagyu and 75% Angus because most American Wagyu is a crossbreed of Angus cows and Purebred Wagyu bulls

In my opinion unless you can actually source the Wagyu you’re not getting your money’s worth because even some Wagyu producers are using halfbred bull on full Angus cows which is still diluting the Wagyu genes but keeping the label

It’s happening the same as Certified Angus which isn’t a breed standard but really a beef grade based on marbling

That pure Angus beef you’re buying could be a mixture of Simmental, Hereford, and Angus or I’ve had dark hide charolais grade Certified Angus

Surprisingly purebred Red Angus isn’t ever considered Certified Angus Beef

Is “Wagyu” getting so cheap now that they’re good for cooking hotdogs.🤨

Lmfao it’s just a buzz word now. Like how it was when “Organic” started getting popular.

How tf are you gonna be able to tell it’s Wagyu anyway?

$7-8 for a hotdog on a roller grill. Only at an airport.

Buying wagyu is pointless in ground form. You can add as much fat as you want, marbling doesn’t matter at all.

Doesn’t matter how expensive the rest of the cow is, there’s always going to be scraps that are worth more in a hotdog than in the trashcan.

Who knew we’d reach a point where hot dogs go gourmet!

I think there may be beef of some kind in there but tbh not really sure if there even is beef in that.

  9. If you get tricked into wagyu that isn’t in steak form, you deserve it

  10. I’ve had wagyu hot dog…prefer a red hot any day

Waygu is just a breed of cattle. There is great waygu, and then there are the scraps of less desirable cuts. Which do you think made it into the hot dog?

I bought some wagyu sausage from Costco and they’re amazing.

Two rivers is great – love their butcher shop.

As for wagyu hotdogs… you have to do something with all the parts that don’t make it into steaks right?

What a waste of the word “wagyu”

Idk. This could be grade A5 trolling. If it is I love it.

    Fyi to everyone:

If it’s not 100% from the kansai region in japan then it isn’t wagyu.

Brave of you to consider one of those, before a flight.
