I used to go there a few times a month as it was my closest BBQ joint but for the last several months they never seemed to be open during their stated hours/days. Yesterday I noticed that their awning/carport was being pulled down and the smoker trailer is gone but the food trailer is still there. Nothing is mentioned on their [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com/WhitfieldsATX/) or [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/whitfieldsatx/?hl=en) pages and Google thinks they’re “Temporarily Closed”. Just curious if anyone knows what up besides “they’re closed”.

I have the same question! I’ve been wanting to try this place as I’m in the area often. Maybe two months ago I saw someone comment about having a good meal there and I asked for their suggestions. I went the following Saturday and it was closed. Haven’t seen it open since!

I was wondering the same, hope they didn’t close up shop

  3. Heard from a friend that they were relocating to the Tesla factory. Can’t blame them honestly, can probably do a lot higher consistent volume though. Sucks for us SW siders though, Valentina’s Menchaca location is closed permanently now too. At least we’ve still got Vincent’s across the street.

Bit of a bummer, they had some of my favorite BBQ in town, were super close to my house and there was never a wait. Guess I’ll be cooking even more of my own briskets.

Their bbq was ok, but there was never a dependable schedule for open hours. FB page never updated. Nice people, hope the new location works out for them.

I don’t know if it’s good but their is a BBQ trailer at the very west end of 45 near the CVS

I’m friends with the owner on FB. I saw a post of his – while I didn’t have permission to the actual contents – looking at the comments – sounds like the trailer is closing, but they are still open for catering, and they are working on a brick and mortar site.

Where, timeline, etc, no idea. They just had said that in response to a comment on this protected post.

Sucks I can practically walk there and loved their food. Hope a B&M site is open sooner than later.

I like Whitfield’s and Valentina’s, but for a while now I’ve been going down to Buda for Louie’s when I wanted a southside fix. Whitfield’s is too inconsistent and Valentina’s waits have worn me out.

  8. Moreno BBQ at Stassney / Manchaca is great.

Edit: meant to reply to the thread about nearby BBQ for us in SW Austin

Moreno BBQ is accessible to anyone that could get to Whitfields. Really anything south of 45 is in the area.

They’re in the process of getting a brick and mortar business open

Kasey Studdard (owner) on his radio show said for right now they are only doing catering and are debating between multiple brick and mortar locations.
