I’ve never had much luck with the ginger from Hello Fresh. I try to keep some handy in the freezer in case.

Just cut off the end. As long as the ginger is hard (like its suppose to be) it’s fine.
I’ve never had this problem with hello fresh before but I wouldn’t really worry about it enough to post about it online lol. My recipe I am literally eating rn had zuccini in it and there was some old zuccini in my fridge so I swapped it out and cut off the parts of the old zuccini that were bad and used the rest. Standard procedure when cooking lol.

The ends on ginger can mold pretty easily, even in the grocery store. I just wash the ends off really well and the cut them off. The rest should be fine to use if it’s still hard and not old and soft

Yes that is mold and no I would not use it.
You can’t just caught off the moldy bit as you would only be scraping the tip of the ice berg.
