    Did you make a video when you planted them buddy? If so and there are a couple you can't identify, like Maris Pipers and King Edwards compared to erm…. ie Kestrel being quite easy due to the colouration you can go back and check which variety you put in what pot….

    Well done a good harvest. I sent off for seed potatoes and they looked naff, having never grown them before I composted them. I've an old tin bath full of spuds as you guessed it, they grew. I've also got a handful of queens in, they're second earlies. I'm doing the Christmas spuds as well, with Sarpo Mira and Kestrels.

    Great harvest Ivan! I emptied a pot of Charlotte this morning and managed 2lb 9oz which I'm pleased with as I was a little late planting and just had some and they tasted fantastic. Can't beat growing your own produce. πŸ™‚

    Roughly half my second earlies (Charlotte) looked like that, with yellowing leaves & softening stems).
    Last year, I was getting 3.5-4kg per container (4 seed potatoes per container) & the six I've emptied this year have been half that – very disappointing & IMO down to the ridiculously hot weather in early June.
    On emptying the containers, the middle part was often too dry, despite vigorous watering, so I'm hoping the other 6 containers are much better, as their tops are still 100% green.
    No worries though, as I've 56 Desiree in the beds at the allotment & that should ensure I don't run out before March 2024.

    ETA I've kept Charlotte second earlies in their containers all the way through to the new year for several seasons now. Just cut the tops off, stack the containers in my (dark) garage complete with compost & they keep just fine.

    Ivan iv harvest 1 king Edward and 1 Kestrel potato pots and got loads of potatoes, I still got another 6 to harvest next week.
