  1. As a child, I witnessed my grandma feeding this to the chickens, ducks and turkeys, even the pigs. Now that I know it's edible, I can't find it anywhere in London, UK. I'd love to try it one day ❤

  2. Purslane is the most nutritious naturally growing plant we have in North America. It is also more nutritious than any food made or grown in North America. 😊❤

  3. I think those are called Water Leaf here in Nigeria, its must have in making some of our best vegetable soups!

  4. We've always ate our "weeds" from the garden, because their quality nutrition has no compare. Yummy and so satisfying.

  5. I didnt know purslane is considered as weed. In Turkey it's eaten raw with yogurt and olive oil or cooked with onions and tomato paste (Semizotu in Turkish)

  6. I just pulled some out of the garden; I didn’t know you could eat it! Definitely going to harvest it the next time it pops up.

  7. Oxalic acid binds to calcium and increases risk of Kidney stones so just beware

  8. Do you guys grow sunflowers? Here they grow like weeds and require 0 care, and sunflower seed oil and butter are delicious

  9. I let spring weeds take over garden..they die in the summer heat and keep things like grass out

  10. Mmm in my neighborhood they often come with the likelihood of being lightly preserved with dog urine. Delicious.

  11. A friend ate wild greens, got insane kidney stones from the oxalates… so definitely cook the ones that do! Have fun, yummmmmmm!!!

  12. This plant is very much used as a side salad in my country and we name it Tajloujt. it's so yomy with lemon or citrus.

  13. Ahh I’ve had this before. It’s got a slightly slimy mucilage texture right? Ppl susceptible to kidney stones or gout should avoid it since it’s high in oxalates.
