Oh wow! They highlight my local pandaderia. Theirs are good. But my favorite isn’t just a Concha. It’s the Concha Ice Cream Sandwich at La Horchateria. I dunno who supplies theirs but they are PERFECT. I’m also still trying to find a reliable source for ManteConchas… keep striking out or running up against a pre-order requirement. ugh.

I can’t wait to try the pan dulce at all of these recommended panaderias. Especially the conchas!
PS -Erick Gallindo’s WILD romcom podcast was the best.

Newsflash: no pandaderia has ever made anything that’s even remotely good. The bread is particularly disgusting.

I’ve had my guilty pleasure of having Vallarta bread but I wouldn’t consider it a favorite.

I live near several La Monarca locations and they pop off on the conchas and Mexican hot chocolates

Only three and none in East LA? My goodness.

Here are two of my absolute favs:
    1. Gallo Pan in East la. On Cesar Chavez
    2. La Mascota in Boyle Heights.

  7. I’m surprised El Gallo Bakery wasnt listed. One of the best conchas ive had

I think they were right to include Vallarta. They are not the top notch when it comes to their bakery, but they have a wide reach around the county, so if you don’t live near a decent tortilleria or panaderia, they make goods that get the job done at a good price.

  9. Goddamn do I miss the El Pavo in Highland Park.
