How’s the bread on the beef? I’ve tried a few beefs here and there outside of Chicago (or a chain from Chicago) and they never seem to get the bread right.

Oh shiiii. Can you get a beef/sausage combo? (Also, why the hell is there THAT MUCH MUSTARD?)

For anyone else that wants to try another spot I been getting the chicago italian beef at foggia italian deli in lakewood and it’s delicious. They give you a seperate container of au jus as well. And not traditional but they melt cheese on top as well.

Looks pretty far off tbh. Beef looks way too dry. Beef should have more of a shredded look than sliced – the fact that those slices aren’t falling apart makes me think it wasn’t cooked very long. Also the beef is usually slow cooked *in* the giardinera more so than it being a significant topping.
Absurd mustard amount on the hotdog

For my east-siders, Eastside Italian Deli has a fine hot beef sandwich with pickled peppers. I can’t comment on its Chicago bona fides though.

That hot dog is a whole-ass life commitment right there.

How would you rate the dog on a scale of 1 to 10 portillos being a 10?

How was it, because it looks horrible. The meat looks super dry and is that Dijon on that “Chicago Dog”. WTF?

Daaaaamn BIG hate lmao. The guy that runs the place is from Chicago- he doesn’t claim to have “the best beef ever!!” Relaaax . Cheeseburger is the best thing for food.
Italian Beef-like op said does not come with enough jus….buut seems like if you were running a business in LA where most people are NOT from Chicago and the dipped beef is pretty niche… Id bet he’d get a lot of confused customers as to why their sandwich was dunked in jus and is literally sopping wet. Simple fix: ask for more au jus.
They also have a coffee whiskey kinda shake thing that is absolutely too sweet but just really damn good 🤙🏽

Food here is solid overall but it’s definitely the best happy hour on the west side drinks wise
