I am from New England and I would live one of these roast beef sandwiches like they have there! Is there anywhere that has these!?

OP they won’t understand. I actually was in the process of opening a place here in town (I have several other concepts) for the very reason there’s nothing like it down here. I make it a point every summer to stop in Plymouth at Angelo’s and love all the south shore roast beef places on my way out to the cape, but they just don’t have anything like it here.
First off the bread down here is absolute garbage. No Kaiser rolls, no onion rolls, no hard rolls, no bulkie rolls, whatever you call them, they just don’t got em.

Oh shit, when I saw this post I was hoping you’d found a place and were sharing it. Signed, also originally from Massachusetts

Yo! I’ve been missing these so hard. From PA- I just made some roast beef and horseradish cream sauce trying to replicate these. I can’t even find seeded kaiser rolls at the store, nor could I get the slices thin enough so it wasn’t exactly right, but was at least reminiscent of the real thing. Have not seen them anywhere in austin.

Belladonna’s sub shop… Closest thing to the northeast yet.

Try Little Deli’s Roast Beef sandwich. The roll will scratch that itch but the filling may differ a bit. Great sandwich overall though!

Tuccis Southside Subs has bread that’s pretty close to your ideal. Their roast beef is standard Boars Head, which may not be up to par for you but I think the bread there is going to be close.

The best beef Sandy I’ve had is Bartlett’s in off West Anderson. They had creamy horsey and raw horsey. Its way over priced ($29) but it’s as good as I have gotten in 10 years here in Austin…..side note, if you’re ever in St. Louis, MO, Lions Choice has incredible beef sandys (don’t call it fast food)

Originally from MA as well – Kelly’s Roast Beef you say? LOL
Yeah we don’t have the same sub shops down here. Best I can find is Tucci’s Southside and for a chain Jersey Mike’s ain’t half bad. Same with cheesesteaks. Nothing here compares with East Coast

I am lead to believe that Arby’s has the meats.

Is this what Arby’s was based on? I had no idea this was a thing. I hope to try the real thing some day…

Jewish style deli’s are a dying breed. In Texas most people putting that much time into brisket are doing bbq. They’re a few in Houston though. I’m no help, but if you’re ever in New Orleans, go to Stein’s Deli. Best sandwiches I’ve ever had.
