Chiltepin: I had no idea what to expect with this sauce, but it was quite good. It is very lemon forward, and almost tastes like a much hotter version of Nando’s XXXhot Peri peri. I had it on some biryani today and it was delightful.
Coffee: very good, not too crazy. I tried the Queen Manesty sauce and was very put off by its ginger and sweet notes. This is far better and I plan to use it as a marinade soon!
Pineapple: this was the biggest surprise of the batch for me!! The sauce is a great consistency, almost like a sweet chili sauce with the stickiness. I have never found a fruity sauce I enjoy, but this is finally it!!
Ghost: definitely not for me. Although supremely hot by El Yuc standards, it had some strange notes I wasn’t a fan of. I will probably gift this one and stick to my Melinda’s day of the dead ghost sauce.
Marisquera red: decent, but not anything special. Very salty flavor even though the sodium is a manageable level! This could go quite well with a brighter and light dish, such as seafood or grilled chicken breast.
Marisquera black: quite tasty. Not as aggressively as the black label, but still very balanced. This almost has an A1 scent and initial flavor. I think my favorite hot sauce for chili is still Melinda’s ghost steak sauce, but this is a very close second.
Also to note, the Marisquera sauces come in plastic bottles, where the rest come in glass. Thanks for reading!
