Obviously, I haven’t had anything that reminds me of my mom’s cooking but I would say it pretty good and hits the spot! My KA friends all hate on it but it does the job and I really like the galbi, japchae, treokbokki, I haven’t tried the kimbap yet!

Same way I feel about all other instant foods, including other ethnic instants: it’s not real so I don’t care.
Like cmon is digiornos “real” pizza? Is cup noodles “real” ramen? If you don’t like don’t eat it. If you do dig in. Just understand it for what it is.
As a Korean American, part of it is that we want y’all to understand what you’re eating isn’t representative of “authentic” Korean food, whatever that means. But hating on it is a bit much
I think the 갈비 and 파전 are really good – I’ve paid more for worse at restaurants and felt fine about it. The 김치, when they have it, is okay, but I think people have pretty different tastes in 김치 so ymmv.
The kimchi and tofu soup is so bad it’s basically a hate crime. So, you know, there’s a spectrum.
Some are hits, some are misses. But personally if you enjoy it, you might as well eat it. 🙂 especially if there are no other options around you. I do like the scallion pancakes even if they are a little greasy.
That kimchi stew is disgusting. Don’t ever buy it, it’ll make you cry. It’s not Korean but the pho is also terrible.
The gochujang was alright… the kimchi in my opinion was terrible, some people love that cleavland/kings/Nasoya kimchi flavor. I just think it’s really lacking,
I’m unfortunately not a fan of the tteokbokki but I do love the pancakes
The tteokbokki is disgusting an insult to Koreans. It tastes like tteok slathered in a disgusting BBQ sauce
It’s aight. I feel the same way about their frozen Korean meals as I feel about their frozen Italian meals.
I’m Korean-American and I used to love their kimchi fried rice. Sad they discontinued it. I’ve never bothered trying their kimchi – I sort of assume it’ll be terrible. I like their kimbap (thawed) and will get it routinely. I disliked their galbi (texture seemed wrong) when I got it once and never got it again. I’ve heard terrible things about their japchae, rice cakes, and kimchi soup so I haven’t bothered with them.
Closest Korean restaurant to me is half an hour and the closest H-Mart is an hour away. It’s nice that Trader Joe’s is trying :). Most of my fast food Korean fix comes from Nong Shim’s kimchi noodles (which I prefer over Shin Black, which is most people’s favorite Korean ramyun).
The important thing to remember about Trader Joes is that the white label a majority of their products.
I add veggies and some extra marinade, but the beefless bulgogi is so good. My Korean mom bought some to take back home with her when she last visited me.
I just tried the gimbap and looooved it fried on the stove
