My local Dunkin has the donuts delivered the night before instead of making them fresh in-house… and they are terrible.

In fact, apparently almost every Dunkin location does this now. There are only three dozen locations in the entire country that make the donuts fresh in-house any more.

Anyone know any of those three dozen locations are in the five boroughs?

(PS – I know there’s obviously lots of better non-chain donut places out there… but I’m just curious to see what a “good” version of a Dunkin Donut tastes like.)

UPDATE: I was inspired to ask this question by a Tik Tok I saw. Well, now the Post has done a writeup of the Tik Tok: https://nypost.com/2023/08/14/dunkin-employee-reveals-where-the-chain-gets-its-donuts/

Where in the US are there Dunkin Donuts locations that still make them in house?

Dunkin’ deprioritized doughnuts almost a decade ago as part of their long term strategy. That’s why they dropped the “Donuts” in their name. They literally don’t care if the donuts are good.

I used to work at a location in the early 2000 that used to make them in-house and they were delicious. The owner owned a few DD so he would make all the doughnuts for all the locations in our store

I’m an avid Dunkin’ donut eater. The best (Dunkin’) donuts I’ve come across in the greater NYC area is the Dunks in Greenpoint at the Nassau Ave. stop across from Frankel’s. I have a theory that they have prioritized the freshness of this location’s donuts because it is directly in the middle of Peter Pan and Moe’s Doughs so they need to keep up with the competition.

This is also the only location I’ve come across in my 5 years in NYC that has the rare Apple N’ Spice donut. NOT THE NEW APPLE CRUMB — that’s garbage. But the Apple N’ Spice.

Try out that one and ask them how their donuts are so fresh!
