I asked for hot sauce, but they give out the nasty packet that only tastes like vinegar. I asked for sambar and they act dumb like as if they don’t know what that is. I ask for chili and they begrudgingly give me one like as if they will never recover financially from this.
Should I just take my own container so they aren’t skirting bankruptcy by giving out their precious, expensive ones?
I dont want to buy my own Sambal because it only tastes good with Chinese style food and I have other hot sauces I prefer to use. So that would be a waste.

Always comes down to costs.
Food shortage and price.
There’s a sambal shortage- it’s out of stock everywhere
All of them right?
Maybe offer to pay?
If they want an extra 25 cents, 50 cents, or whatever you negotiate, perhaps they won’t be as cheap?
It’s expensive and there is a shortage
Sambal is a Malay/Indonesian word, not Chinese.
Huy Fong (the Sriracha folks) make a pretty good version that is usually available in supermarkets, although, come to think of it, I haven’t seen it lately
There has been a shortage on Sambal for many months now
I’ve never been to a Chinese restaurant that had sambal.
I’ve only had it In Indonesian restaurants, because it’s origin is Indonesia.

You can buy your own on Amazon. I think it was like $100+ a bottle.
Sambal is Indonesian. Sichuan Chinese places have a chilli paste that’s similar but more vinegar and some Chinese places have sweet chilli sauce which looks similar to the pic with spring rolls.
Because y’all can’t handle the spicy level
