INGREDIENTS
3 cans clams (6.5 oz) minced
1 pc onion (medium size) minced
2 stalks celery diced
2 pcs potatoes (large size) cubed
2 cups water
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 quart half-in-half cream
1 tsp salt
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp parsley flakes

INSTRUCTIONS
1. In a large skillet over medium heat, put onion, celery, and potatoes. Drain juice from clams and then add water. Cook for 15 minutes then remove and set aside.
2. In another saucepan, melt the butter. Add all-purpose flour then whisk until smooth. Slowly pour cream and stir constantly. Cook for 5 minutes.
3. Add vegetables and clam juice mixture. Simmer for 5 another minutes.
4. Ready to serve!

  1. Massage what you put I would have done a little bit differently is search ID onions and celery and butter and use some steamers the shop shell clams with or also dollar steamers

  2. Wrong wrong wrong. Sorry but a good soup or sauce should be done like building a house. From the ground up. Salt pork cooked down to release the fat. Add additional butter on medium low heat. Add your veggies, cook till tender. Add your flour slowly till moisture cooked out and add your warm liquids slowly while mixing. Add your clams, potatoes seasoning and thyme. Simmer till potatoes are done and chowder has thickened to your liking. Toss in a tad of sweet sherry. Take it from a former chef who made 50 gallons weekly

  3. Only question, the onions and potatoes and celery. When you put it in the skillet. Do you have to put any type of oil or butter or just let it simmer just for a second before putting the clam juice and everything else in there?

  4. Too thick for my liking but looks good. I like the one my fiance makes us. Hers is so good. Not thick at all. bacon veggies potatoes and its creamy. She uses heavy cream.

  5. I finally made this recipe, I thought it tasted, not bad. Maybe another time or two and it could be GREAT. It does have potential, that's for sure.
    Most of these recipes have all the same ingredients, there are a few that may be a little different. I know for a fact that some cooks do a few different things,where maybe it's missing an ingredient, a step,or who knows what. Not sure what they get out of that.

  9. Just used this base approach to make my own "Pork Bacon Brussel Sprouts Chowder". VERY easy, cost effective and AMAZINGLY filling for a cold winter day! A little pork pre-seasoned with rosemary and thyme + 2 slices of bacon cooked first, drain off oil, set aside porks. Sprouts instead of celery (replace half of salt with celery salt), 2 slim carrots chopped for color, fry up vegs the same way with water, set aside. 1Cup Butter and 1 Flour (need a little more cream for this), used 2% Milk instead of cream (no issues); make cream up the same way + 1/2 cup monterey jack cheese once thickened. Whisking frequently until smooth. Add all in just like in video. Let sit on low while you clean up, with occasional stirring. Serve with fresh sliced french baguette bread (no butter needed) and a small side of Bushmill's Whiskey for little sips in between. SO rich and good with hearty winter veggies!

  11. The think I don't like is the minced clams and the juice it contains, not the real thing. I like to open my own big chowder clams chopped them and use that real clam juice. Plus I like to sauté lots of bacon and onions with the rest of the veggies, The taste is amazing with the fresh clams.

    One doctor in Boston rebuilt his body with. Carrots celery and beets along with fresh red skins apple blend all ingredients together he had this drink for six weeks with salad and water got rid of worse stomach problems

  15. So, my wife loves Clam Chowder. It's her favorite thing in the world to eat. I have made it a few times for her, but I wanted to find something a bit more New England style. Which this is. I just made this for her and she loved it. The only thing I changed was instead of water, I used Chicken Broth and added some green onions for the last five minutes of cooking. It turned out fantastic. Thanks so much for the recipe!

  16. Made this and it was amazing. I would suggest adding whole clams if anyone likes it meaty but other wise great recipe and easy to follow
