Our Family’s Classic Beef Stew. The beef is so tender and just melts in your mouth! Every bit of this beef stew is infused with wonderful flavor from slow roasting in the oven.

INGREDIENTS for the Classic Beef Stew Recipe:
►6 oz thick sliced bacon chopped into 1/4″ wide strips
►2 – 2 1/2 lbs boneless beef chuck or good quality stew meat trimmed and cut into 1″ pieces
►Salt and ground black pepper to taste
►1/4 cup all-purpose flour
►2 cups good red wine such as Soft Red or Pinot Noir (see note above)
►1 lb mushrooms thickly sliced
►4 large carrots peeled and cut into 1/2″ thick pieces
►1 medium yellow onion diced
►4 garlic cloves chopped
►1 Tbsp tomato paste
►4 cups low sodium beef broth or beef stock
►2 bay leaves
►1 tsp dried thyme
►1 lb small potatoes new potatoes, or fingerling, halved or quartered

I have tried this without carrots. I guess that major flavor is made by them, so had to add more sun dried potatoes and artichokes instead.

I’m using this to attempt beef stew for the first time for my husband. Just leaving out the mushrooms cus he don’t like them and doing this in the crockpot I don’t have a Dutch oven but I think it’ll work ❤
I prepared this tonight and the entire family absolutely loved it. I thought it looked like a LOT of mushrooms, but the proportions in the finished product were just right. I may cut down the pepper just a bit the next time I make it

We all love Ms. Natasha. Not only does she have a great personality, but her recipes are cosmic. She is a cosmonaut. Ask: Using prime or choice steak rather than a somewhat grainy chuck roast is OK. (texture). Chuck works, but it never tastes that good when done. If I use authentic steaks for this recipe, will it work? Also, I add beef broth but also read Italian tomato paste and a little puree to make the beef brother something other than blah. I like to use the slow cooker because I have little time. I do the Maison plas first, then combine.
Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that this video would show up on my queue a few months before beef stew really comes into play. Natasha, you and Vadim and your team are amazing.
