  1. I am a goulash expert. 😉 This recipe ONLY need ONE change. To get the goulash taste the way it should … The onions must be cooked until they are dark, almost burnt. That will then give the goulash the correct taste. ( this " secret" comes from a famous Czech restaurant chef). Dark rye bred is also an option to have with it. Potato dumplings are of course the best !

  2. So you add thyme sugar, balsamic vinegar, and olive oil??? you are far away from the Hungarian kitchen. We are never add this things!!! learn before you make a videos!!! this is not goulash. This is Hungarian beef stew…brainless.

  3. That's not real goulash. It's missing the most important part- rich amounts of dog or cat meat. Hungarians came from Mongolia. 🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

  4. I've been craving goulash and spatzel for a while now, and had assumed that it was really hard to cook. But now I see you have both recipes and it looks very do-able for an amateur home cook like me. I will try these this week for sure! Thank you

  6. I make this with pork butt on account of my wife is allergic to beef. It. Is. Incredible! We make a double batch and freeze portions for when we need an edible hug after a long day.

  7. Just made this. A real crowd pleaser. BUT…next time I'll toast the spices in a separate vessel. Deglaze and then stir in the spices. Bon Appetit Y'all.

  8. You should add a couple of tablespoons of washyoursistersauce…….

Just so that you can say it properly in the video.

  9. Had to substitute pork for beef. I bought some beef two days ago and when I grabbed it to make the Gulasch it was brown and smelled off🤬. So instead of risking it I threw it out and used pork.

  10. I've made this recipe many times, but watch this one continuously every time I make it.. maybe it's his comforting voice? Thank you Chef John !!

  12. When I was a kid in the late 60’s my parents took us to Europe for the summer several times. They bought a VW van in Yugoslavia and we drove the continent. I remember going to Budapest near a bridge, going into a restaurant and enjoying Hungarian goulash. It was music in my mouth, a wonderful meal. I don’t remember if this is the same but this is delicious. Thank you.
