One of my pickle jars is cloudier than the other, cause for concern? I threw the cloudy one in the fridge. Canned last Thursday. Pickle, jalapeño, onion, and garlic. Brine was about 1/4 vinegar and sufficient salt according to a recipe from the ball preserving book.

I know the blue book states if pickling salt isn’t used the liquid can become cloudy. I’m not sure why one is different from the other.

  3. I’ve always used at least 1:1 vinegar 5% to water for brine. Care to share the brine recipe you’re using? You’re using 1/4 vinegar? 4:1 ratio?
