**Who** went: Just myself, as always.

**What** is it: All photos were of their Large Ice Cream size cup with 3 scoops of ice cream, I’ve had another ice cream sundae before this one – Sweet Cream & Cookies, The Munchies, topped with hot fudge and salted Camaro sauce, although that ice cream was fantastic, the photos were less than ideal (just like w/ my job for clients, not fun taking photos of ice cream). I’ve took this option shortly after since they’ve ran out of a lot of items when I’ve visited – no brownies, no waffle cone bowl, some flavors and toppings missing, things like that, so the helpful staff did their best with this one. The ice cream I chose was Strawberries and Cream (fresh strawberries and cream from the Hudson Valley), Vanilla Bean (a classic, uses Madagascar & Mexican vanilla beans), and Chocolate Fudge (dark cocoa + sweet fudge), topped with rainbow jimmies, and hot fudge. The sundae was almost 12$ after tax. Also had a bottle of Boylan Root Beer (2,25$ after tax) w/ this, but I either the table was slippery, or I was *really* into the shoot, so nearly all of it dropped (RIP, but not fractured).

**When** was this: Yesterday (Friday, 25 August 2023) late afternoon (4:25 to 4:40PM) after walking around in Prospect Park, and deciding on a coin flip on what to do first – (Heads) have pizza at L’Industrie in Williamsburg/walk there, or (Tails) get some ice cream at Ample Hills, even though I was closer to The Social. I haven’t been to Ample Hills since they’ve reopened in June 2023 (2 months ago) after their bankruptcy/money problems, so I’m glad 5 locations across the city (*not* all) are reopened, like Astoria, LIC, UWS, Industry City, and of course Prospect Heights. Either way, I was in a treat, and it was already pretty quiet – aside from two families briefly stopping by to sit and have ice cream, and a couple takeout orders, I was the only person inside for ~40 minutes. I know from experience ice cream isn’t always the best food to snap photos of stemming from my job, but when it works, it *works*. I’m glad to help keep the dollars local, and have a small taste of nostalgia.

**Where** is this: Ample Hills Creamery in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Friendly, cozy ice cream parlor chain in the city with 5 locations, they also have to-go pints of ice cream if you’d want to skip the line. It’s been open in one way or another since 2011, and after their issues & reopening 2 months ago, looks like another chance to enter the hearts of customers new and loyal. It offers fun ice cream flavors (each store has a unique flavor), popular options, ice cream sodas/floats, sundaes, ice cream cakes, and a overall family friendly setting 2-3 blocks from Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Brooklyn Museum, and Prospect Park. Sometimes crowds might be big if there’s demand, other times (my visit) it’ll be quiet enough where you’re mostly the only customer inside.m, and there’s seating outdoors. See more at: **[Their Info](https://amplehills.com/)** which includes some of their flavors (some stores either have unique flavors, or would not have everything in stock), **[Ample Hills’ Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/amplehills)** and their **[TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@amplehills)**, if they ever decide on posting there in the future.

**Why** did you go here & snap photos this occasion: Summer’s reaching its (unofficial) end in ~10 days, it’s the last weekend of NYC Open Streets (I’m not a biker, although it was being set up as I came in), and I’ve wanted to see how Ample Hills changed since I’ve been inside many moons ago. Spent a few minutes setting up, and paced around the shop, noticing what’s changed, what’s available, wrote down my notes, and planned. Had my first sundae (unfortunately no *usable* photos even if it was yummy, so I’ll have to re-shoot that soon^TM ). Few minutes later, ordered my next sundae, which as you’ve seen there, they’ve done a fantastic job! Spent about 20 minutes eating & snapping a few photos (inc. the other 20 for the first sundae), chatted with the employees, tipped them handsomely (in brevity, *more* than the two sundaes I’ve had, and try to make amends for the spilled root beer), before I’ve walked (most of the way) to L’Industrie, but overall it was a good experience. Hopefully next time I can go, I can enjoy more, even bring a friend along.

**Gear used**: Sony A7R IV camera, 90mm f/2,8 G macro lens, x1 Westcott FJ-80 flash (w/ accessories) for OCF w/ a SmallRig mini tripod as a makeshift light stand, improvised w/ a bounce card. Used my Apple Watch as remote shutter.
