Absolutely fantastic recipe!!! I followed everything and my sloppy joes came out PHENOMENAL. Also, if anyone is hesitant about the two cups of water, don't be, it will evaporate out. You're left with a thick delicious sloppy joe.
It doesn't look like he uses 1 cup of water to deglaze in this video! You can tell he uses a full cup at the end of the video though. Anyone tried this with 2 cups of water? Should I use beef broth instead?
I know this is an older recipe from you, but I wanted to share that I made a (only slightly) modified version of these Sloppy Joe’s today at my restaurant….and we sold out!
Thank you Chef for always providing consistent and delicious dishes for us Pros and home cooks ❤
My mom,s barbeque/sloppy joe was hamburger, onion, celery and celery. Then a table spoon of ketchup a then of mustard and a can of Campbell chicken gumbo soup. Two cans of water and cook it back down to sloppy joe consistency! It was delicious!! It was her mother's recipe and she was a school cafeteria cook!!!!
Make sure to drain the fat. Could keep a tablespoon in there for flavor, but if it isn’t drained it’ll remain soupy in consistency, regardless of how long you simmer. Something this dingdong should’ve included for newer cooks.

Stuff you’re delicious sloppy Joe recipe into your amazing cold oven blue cheese pop overs.
man i am thinking of jope biden 🤣🤣
Requires time to make and tons of ingredients yet people call it a poor man's food. Those ingredients aren't cheap you know.
Ate this in school cafeterias and it's pretty good
Sounds like Seth Rogen
Do you drain the water after deglazing?

The recipe looks good and I will try it, however tatter tots are awful.
Thanks

Just go to new deli
jeez joe is really sloppy
I made this. Good! Next time I'll add diced tomatoes. Tastes just like Manwich.
I never knew the sauce was mainly ketchup and mustard! I feel as shocked as I did when I found out the recipe for party meatballs.
That sloppy Joe looks dry like a regular hamburger. Where’s the Sloppy part?
Simple that's awesome
So sloppy joe is essentially chilly

You Americans are definitely scared of Worcestershire sauce 😂
Why not sauté the onion and pepper at the same time, instead of the onion with the meat and then the green pepper?

I just made this and it’s the best recipe out there in utube land. Another winner. Thanks Chef John ❤
Is mustard necessary
Question: should we cover while it simmers? It doesn’t appear Chef John covers it!
thank you this is just how my grandma used to make them
Where’s the cheese? 😩
We called it "graveled"
Love the channel Chef.
Oh you use a basic homemade bbq sauce for it
No fat?
No flavor.

Good grief! No way man
Thank you ❤
It has to have a little vinegar. Thats where that "tang" comes from that Sloppy Joes are supposed to have. Other than that, perfect
What if you were to marry together a sloppy Joe and a Harlem Chopped Cheese?
