  2. Don't drain excess oil on paper towels. That tends to steam the clams and you loose some crispness. Use brown paper instead. Lunch bags will do.

  3. I’ve watched this vid many times when I miss my fried clam bellies. My fave food, even more than steak, oysters, sushi or truffles. I can only get small bellies in Bigelows here in Long Island NY. Thanks capt John for the shucking technique. I will have to shuck my own 😢 but you make it look easy. Or I can drive to Connecticut for the closest good clams at Westfair Fish. They do get large juicy bellies there. Anyway they are very expensive everywhere so I will get good at shucking. Thanks also for your clam digging vid. It show why the clams are expensive. You are impressively strong dude 💪

  8. Yummm …My husband introduced this fried Ipswich whole belly clams in 2014 and since then I fell in love with it. We always make sure we eat it every summer when we go to Maine!

  9. just brought home clams I caught myself in deer isle on sheepshead Island. dug em up with my granpas 1952 Korean War little field shovel. your shucking video and this video helped me make better clams than the ones I had in the maine restaurants. your the man! thanks my kids loved em. I brought the clams all the way back to Florida on ice fresh.
