This is $125 dollars worth of food. Now to see if I can make it last a month.

Certainly possible if you like rice for every meal.

Make a plan. How much do you need to prep meals for 5-7 days? Separate the meat into portions that are then wrapped and stored in the freezer. Pull out and let thaw one day in the refrigerator before cooking for the next 5-7 day meals. Keep dry stuffs dry. Use spices to enhance flavors.

I spend, on average, $150-$175 a week for a family of 4. How many are you planning to feed with this?

If you portion carefully, you can absolutely make it last a month.

Goal is to stay between $200-$250 a month for food.

For fresh fruits and veggies I’m going to the Sunday farmers market place since they’re way cheaper.

I agree with others if you portion carefully you could definitely make this work, especially by adding in fruit and veg from the local farmers market.

Food in NYC is expensive, dang. 😭

Your meat is too expensive. Try buying chicken thighs with the bone in and skin on. It can cut the price nearly in half. Then take the skin off and debone in yourself. Bonus—you can make stock with the bones and little cracklin-like chips with the skin!

I would also buy a big, cheap bag of onions for flavor (and vitamins!)

Do you have access to a Costco/Sam’s? If you’re looking to bulk buy rice, that may be a better option.

Lidl and Aldi butter is terrific and costs half of what Land O Lakes brand does. In fact, your money would stretch much farther in either store if you shopped there and purchased their brands.

The diary products would spoil in a week after opening right?
