1/2 tsp Flaky Sea Salt
6 slices Pineapple
6 Maraschino Cherries without stems
For the Cake:
2 and 3/4 cup Cake Flour
3 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
3/4 tsp Salt
1 and 1/2 cups granulated Sugar
1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
3 large Eggs at room temperature
1/2 cup Milk at room temperature
1/2 cup Sour Cream at room temperature
1/2 cup Pineapple Juice
1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp Vanilla Extract

So I made this twice. The first time it was super dense. So good but very dense and almost like bread. The second time I separated the egg white whipped the whites with a hand mixer and then whipped the yellows and then folded everything in. I kept periodically using the hand mixer to make sure that air stayed in the cake batter and the cake came out beautiful and fluffy everyone loved it. It almost tasted like store bought cake.
I will use less sugar next time but this will be the only recipe I use since it's a larger amount and it's delicious.
my granny got me using Swann cake flour
I preheated my oven at 425 and messed up the whole cake. Now I have to go back to the store 🙄

Taste better when your base is a sponge cake. Having a regular cake mix makes the whole thing way too sweet.
What is the temperature of the oven? It’s not listed on the printed instructions either.
I have watched many videos on how to make this type of cake. There are some variations, but the one thing that remained the same was the cherries.
My question is….why does everyone put cherries in it? Is it for decoration and presentation? I'm from the south, we don't care about making it look pretty. We focus more on taste.
I made this and didn't use a single cherry. However I did go a step further and added a can of crushed pineapple into the batter. It didn't last 3 hours in my house.
So I can only conclude that they cherries are added for a splash of color. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm really puzzled by this.

The recipe look great however there is a discrepancy on the recipe that is on your website. The website recipe is missing the sour cream that thank goodness I had some on hand and referred back to your video
