Saw this during my break from spice a few days ago in my local store. Thought “well that seems like something I’d usually ignore for not being hot enough”. (Usually I’m comfortable with anything from 100 000-500 000 SHU). So I googled how hot I could expect these noodles to be. The highest estimate I could find was 13 200+ SHU and the ignorant voice inside my head went; “well that’s just candy”. This should have been my last cocky remark about this demonic duck from hell.
Today after work I felt like eating something spicy. Naturally I(lazy as ever) turned to these instead of cooking up some wings and garnishing with a siracha based hot sauce, as I would usually do. Had I known the hell that would ensue, I would have turned back at this point.
I unsuspectingly cooked the noodles accordingly to the directions on the packaging. Served them and took the picture above to commemorate the moment of me coming back to hot food.
As I was about to take the first bite, my eyes started watering, my nose opened up to feel the intense aroma of spice. I bit down on the noodles and slurped without hesitation.
Everything seemed normal, a moderate thingy sensation covered my tongue and pain hadn’t made it’s presence known, yet. I took a second bite and thought “well this is disappoin”… suddenly this demon duck had congregated each and every demon to dance on my tongue. A pain so intense, so penetrating. I could feel my taste buds being used as a portal to summon the devil. I let out a screech and dropped the fork. I made a diagonal line to the fridge and drank a carton of milk on the spot, knowing it wouldn’t actually help and just stir up the oils on my tongue. I resigned to my faith and knew the only way out, is trough. I sat down and closed my eyes as not to feel the agonizing fumes from this unholy concoction. I had never tried to ignore pain as much as I did a few short moments ago. It felt like the first time eating anything with more than a reasonable amount of spice. My eye’s are running, my face is red and my hands are cold. I mostly wrote this so long as to ignore the pain. As for the noodles, they were quite tasty, will eat again. 4/5. Hope to get re-acclimated to spicier foods soon and back to normal.

Why does it look so unsaturated. You supposed to cook in the sauce.
