Hope that helps the squash develop rapidly. Can't wait to see how this worked,
thank you for sharing that experience with me I am going to do my own tomorrow
Hope the pruning works for the butternut squash. (fingers crossed). Thanks for sharing.
I planted my butternut squash last year under my peach trees since I ran out of space in the garden. They grew so prolific that I was forced to prune them. I ended up with a wheelbarrow full of butternut squash.
I did this as the pumpkin was growing, it was taking over the garden. In my thoughts was as a new gardener was ,if it dies I can try again next year. I grew a lot this year but most was to see if I could. I started off with 4 plants and ran an experiment, and I sacrificed them to the compost bin as I went. The first took over the place, then one was in the shade, and the other wasn't growing well. The one I still got I has two fruits growing, I don't even eat pumpkin, but the dogs do..
Hi Ivan… what a beast of a butternut squash plant you have grown!! What size pot have you grown it in? as this is the first time seeing a squash plant grown in a pot, I've only ever seen them grown in the ground. Also I noticed a small tomato plant you moved out of the way… could you overwinter a tomato plant? Like some folk do a pepper? Another informative video thank you!!
Thanks Ivan, that looks a lot tidier now and at least you've got rid of the dead and dying leaves so hopefully you'll get some decent fruit from it. Have a great weekend. Take care and all the best. Stevie
Iโve never grown this before but it looks a little bit tricky. Looking forward so much to the potato reveal! Itssss christmaaas! ๐
Ivan. Youre awesome dude ๐
Sweet cherry pie lvan will give it ago cut them back only small fruits ๐๐
Hi Ivan thank you for the mention. I hope the plant responds and you get at least one good butternut fruit. If they are still slow growing the fruits, cut them back to just 1 or 2 and add the wick with the constant feed of liquid seaweed fertiliser, I think that should help. We are so very near the end of the season for the warmth they like, so i think any size that we can eat is a bonus. I look forward to seeing how this goes๐
