Egly Grand Cru ExB is priced below retail cost on this list. I highly suggest getting a bottle

Goddamn I wish there was a restaurant near me with these prices. Where is this?

Back up the truck for any of the Egly, and if you want to hit a home run the Bollinger RD for $300 is exceptionally well priced.

OP, when posting a restaurant list, please mention the name and location of the restaurant.

  4. The magnum of Larmandier Bernier is a great deal, the Tarlant is sure to be neat, the Ulysse Collin is great if you want something nerdy, and the Eglys are a steal as others have said

    That’s a dope list.
I’d go Egly or Lamandier Rose de Siagnee is lights out amazing.

Krug 170 and Goutorbe Special Club are both priced extremely well.

Gourtoube special club (spelling) and it’s not even close. Best bang for the buck

For these prices I would go with Egly Ouriet or Ulysse Colin – you’re not going to find those wines for a better price and in many cases find those wines at all on many lists as they are pretty highly allocated. It’s more about opportunity to try something at great value and rarity than “best wine” IMO.

But if I can just get on this soapbox…why are they breaking down the list by sub regions when those subregions are invalid to many of the wines? In some cases a few of these wines are from a small collection of sites in that subregion but there are many cases where it is irrelevant. Cristal? It just lists Reims where Louis Roederer is located. The fruit comes from all over. Bollinger RD – its sourced from all over. I see so many lists do this and it’s completely meaningless.

    End rant.

  9. Personally, I’m a fan of Billecart-Salmon and Larmendier Bernier

    The Larmandier-Bernier Rosé is outstanding.

I guess I’m just grumpy today but I don’t understand posting what is obviously a very, very well put-together list of champagnes and asking which are “worth trying” without giving any other info (your general preferences, will you be having one bottle or multiple, have you had some producers before (or not??))… Like, all of them are “worth trying”…this is a sick list. Have you had Cristal? Cristal is not among my very favorite champagnes but the ’14 vintage is my favorite of the Cristal vintages. Fun for a splashy splurge. But if you prefer a more opulent style, maybe something like the 2012 Goutorbe Special Club would resonate with you. Or the Pet-Nat Pinotage from Swartland if you veer funky and natural and off-the-wall.

Lots of great Champagne here but don’t sleep on Flavian Nowack just because they are relatively inexpensive! I’ve not had the “Arpents” cuvee before but I’ve had the S.A. and many others and they all present serious value! Mr Nowack really likes Meunier and as such his cuvées are always heavily weighted that way.

Georges Laval single vineyard, yes please. One of my favorite producers and you didn’t name price range. Although you did ask champagne, and specified region, which I appreciate.

Yea the Vouette, Egly, and Colin are all great options! Solid prices too!
