Been growing reapers and scorpions this year for the first time. Tried a tiny bit of a reaper the other day and it was great but I could tell it was beyond my current tolerance to have much more than that teeny tiny bit. Didn’t want to waste the rest of that pod so I took out the seeds, chopped it up, and tossed the bits into a jar of pickle juice. Pretty quickly the capsaicin oil diluted into the juice, leaving tasty bits of reaper that are much more manageable.
Still plenty of heat in the flesh of course, but well within my tolerance now (for my gut too, which is the more important part for me). Doesn’t feel too significantly more intense than an untouched habanero to me, but still maintained the delicious reaper flavor. Makes for a fantastic pizza topping.
