(Seattle, zone 8) This is my first year growing peppers, and I needed a few extra for a recipe so I bought a few more. Any reason why mine look larger and have a bit thicker skin than store bought? They’re still hot so I’m not complaining lol, just curious. Thanks!

Yours are better.
Love
Variety, growing conditions
yours is way sexier
If you are certain they are habanero plants, it just comes down to genetic traits, or traits gained from how you are growing it.
There are different types of orange habanero but growing conditions could make a difference as well
Well at least you aren’t comparing to your neighbors husband’s
Yours look mint. Store probably bought on the cheap from cheap grower.
They’re both fine, yours will be much better in any recipe.
Store bought got girth but you got length too 😂
Yours are good. Home grown always better than store bought.
The real answer is stores usually only stock what people consider “normal/good/perfect” looking produce. Most of the “weird/different” peppers are probably sold to companies that use them for sauce or something. Also, users here are probably picking the best-looking ones to post.
But yours are better cause you grew them yourself. The love and dedication makes them tastier, different, and beautiful. Yours are the best, AND mine are the best.
Mine are the same or bigger. You done good!
If it’s your first year, and you did not use seeds from a previous harvest, that rules out cross-pollination (at least for this year). If you could compare the flavor of each pod, that would tell you which one is better. Your homegrown one definitely looks more impressive, and I’m assuming tastes better too haha.
That’s a great looking habanero.
I’ve been sautéing mine recently along with onions.
Like others have mentioned, not only are yours bigger, but the flavor compared to store bought can’t be beat.
Yours is a hybrid
Because it’s not commercially controlled for profits.
Yours look like they on steroids 😲
Am I the only one who sees butt stuff?
