  2. If your doing a regular top. How do you refrigerate it ? Roll it out in advance ??

  3. Make sure you are using gold medal bleached flour. Yes flour brand matters, using King Arthur flour for it will make it tougher because of the gluten, gold medal has less gluten and bleached weakens gluten leading to a tender flaky crust.

  4. Great video! Love the Joy of Cooking. Maybe take a minute to get some close up shots (mic & camera) of the crust if you really want to highlight the amazing crunch!

  6. Cool video I 💕 that pie to but isn’t unsafe for yr chickens🐔 Rhubarb leaves are poisonous for chickens I think it would kill them hopefully you don’t have a drawing that pie is delicious no I want to make one

  8. We dont have rhubard in the Philippines so I'm curious how it tastes and why its paired with strawberry when strawberry is already good on its own. 😂

  9. My grandmother made strawberry rhubarb pie all the time for me. I loved it. I don’t remember her recipe but maybe I’ll try this one. And I think you need more rhubarb plants so it will grow better and it takes a few years to establish itself. 🙂

  10. Strawberry-rhubarb has been my absolute favorite pie since 1969, when I had it at Mrs. Mary Money's in Fulton, MO. When served warm, in a deep dish with a bit of heavy cream drizzled over it … absolute heaven!

  11. Do you know rhubarb pie can be separate from any pie but if you want fruit pies to be even better you make them rhubarb fruit pies thank you

  12. Give your stocks a good mow over in the fall and each year they will be bigger and bigger. I am middle aged now but as a child I would go out and pull a stock and eat it with a little salt. Wonder memories and still love it to this very day.

  13. So I keep getting told I need to boil the rhubarb and peel it. This recipe doesn't call for that. Do I really need to? I'm getting confused 🙃

  17. I love playing with pie crust. I use herringbone or do cut outs on regular top crusts (leaves, pumpkins, apples, etc.) and sprinkle demerarra, turbinado, maple, citrus, etc. for that wonderful extra crunch texture. People always love my apple pie and can't figure out the difference. Most times it's just sugar sprinkled on top. Occasionally I'll use maple sugar in it. Same with pecan pies! 😁

  18. To grow rhubarb you can use it needs to be transferred into a completely dark room for a few days (forget the exact time) so the plant overgrows the stalk to try to reach the sunlight its being deprived of

  19. Date and rhubarb pie is the best! Don't pick any rhubarb for at least 3 years. Your plant will be great then, but don't pick to much. You have to leave so much so the plant can survive!
