Hey everyone, I have a small business (newworldtropical.com) that imports graded, specialty coffee from Costa Rica. Although I only source from Costa Rica at the moment, we are seeking to source beans from the 8 identified coffee-growing micro-regions of the country. We believe our beans have a great story, and great flavor and aroma profiles. And I think we’re able to compete reasonably with the market for SCA graded coffee.
We have 6.6lb bags of roasted beans for wholesale and would love to get more volume, are there suggestions from the group for things I should look into to get more exposure and be able to at least let more businesses know we’re an option? Groups, conferences, events, websites, etc?

Thanks a lot!

I think that there’s a pretty standard way reps work for food and alcohol in the US. You bring samples and ask to talk to the right person when you come around (not during peak times of course).

  2. I worked in social media for 15 years, so I can share advice there as you market yourself on platforms that you want businesses to see…
Reels on Instagram – IG will push these in their algorithm more than regular posts.
On all social sites, the companies care more about video completions than likes (what gets people to keep scrolling forever). So get people to watch your videos until the end of you can.
Also on IG, don’t use TikTok videos or visuals that include TikTok’s logo. Same vice versa. Social media companies have ways to detect competitive visuals and will push those down in feeds.
